Just wanting to ask what plans you are on as I am SO confused about what plan to go with ...

We will be living in a 2 bedroom, insulated flat (the flat is 12 years old), with a heat pump, electric hot water, and a nightstore in CHCH. There is me, DH, and Bella, and we will mostly be out during the day.

In summer last year, we used on an Anytime rate 128 kWh and at night 262 kWh and the meter was $1.039 per day.

In winter last year, we used on an Anytime rate 351 kWh and at night 355 kWh and the meter was $1.039 per day.

The Anytime rate is 17.703 cents and night is 10,655 cents.

So, basically trying to find the best plan that is going to be the most economical for us given we are on a tight budget!

TIA

I'm with Genesis not sure what the rate is but we pay have direct debit of $50 per week every week thats for 3 adults.
Means our bill goes into credit in summer and that evens out when winter rolls around.

We have DVS and a gas heater.

We are with contact and have nightrate. We run our hot water only at night and also put washing machine, dishwasher etc on a night as well.
We also pay ours weekly and pay $60 at the moment as we are playing a bit of catch up and that also pays for the rental flat that is attached to our property.

There is a website that allows you to calculate which company is best for you, I can't remember what it is and DH has just left for work but will ask him tomorrow and let you know.

We just switched from Contact (who are the most expensive place for power) to Energy Direct. If we had switched on our last bill we would have saved $60 from it. Contacts rates are going up again very soon too so I'm told.

I use a power manager, its just me, DF and Kylah and we use $30 a week. Seems awesum for us as when we were on just the normal monthly bill our bills were between $200 - $300 a month!

We were with Contact but find them more expensive than when we were with Meridian (Meridian always checked the meter...contact quite often did 'estimated' readings)

Contact always do estimates with us which is what pissed us off about them. We would get estimates for 6 months in a row if we didn't ring them and give them our own readings

Is that legal! What if you were away for 3 weeks and used nothing?

We are on a 'low user' rate. The person at the call centre was able to look at how much energy we use and compare plans on the computer

Maybe we should switch off contact too.... Genesis totally mucked us around with our direct debits so I'm not sure where we'd look next though
