Topic: Foxybots review Posted: 15 January 2008 at 9:07am |
Yay, I got my first Foxybots nappies in the weekend. They're absolutely gorgeous and so well made. Leo wore the blue camo on Sunday and while the fit was good it was slightly more bulky under his clothes than his Fuzzis so last night I decided to try it as a night nappy. It was FABBO!!! I stuffed it with a Nix-Kids hemp fleece flat and a Cotton Babies mf insert and after 13.5hrs Leo was still completely dry! There wasn't even a hint of wicking - both the outer minky fabric and the microfleece lining were bone dry. There is ample room for stuffing yet Leo looked so comfy and happy in it this morning when he got up. They are definitely going to be my staple night nappy from now on - I can't imagine anything better! And I'd highly recommend them for heavy wetters - well done Stacey!!

Awww yay Vic, I'm glad they worked really well for you!!
I know they are slightly more bulky than PUL nappies, it's just cause the minky is thicker than PUL so I can't help that unfortunately, but then Daniel lives in tshirts and his nappies at the moment hehe.

Yeah but the plus side of that is that there is sooo much room for stuffing. I can't see how anyone could not stuff enough for a heavy wetter and it has to still be slimmer than a 2-part system. And Leo never wears pants to bed at night as he's in a grobag so I still get to see the gorgeous fabrics.
I forgot to also say thanks for the wipes you threw in, my daughter thinks they're great
One questions - the brown minky one with the black lining, does it need to be washed seperately?

Not really, you could do the first wash by itself .. but I throw everything in together and don't have colours run etc but I always do cold wash. Warm washes would be fine altogether too.

You're so restrained - I couldn't wait to prewash it and put it on Leo straight from the packet! Even with no prewashing the hemp/mf combo insert lasted 3hrs no probs.
Stacy - the hemp fabric seems to have shrunk smaller than the mf - is that normal?

Yeah hemp shrinks a little, I prewash it really hot so that most of the shrinking happens before I use it. It also has give, so with use it will stretch out a little more. Any new microfibre/hemp insert I've ever used (including the likes of my ecobubs ones) do it as well but they have all flattened out after a few uses.

Well I have already said my heaps of times but will say it again. It is the only nappy that I can put on Josh and not have any leaks at night. I love it so much. Good thing I know the maker

I would like to foxybots out, we haven't had Seb in cloth since he was 5 months (mostly because the nappies were useless, didn't stay inside their own covers and wicked out the side) I'd love to try pockets, but there's no blue cammo in large! Will you be making more anytime soon Stacey? The blue retro dot is neat too.

Yep I can make some more blue camo, I had another lot of it arrive (though its a tiny bit different to the last one - just slightly different shades of blue)

I just wanted to post a review here - but not from a user so please bear that in mind (I just bought one for my preggo cousin)
The workwomanship is fantastic and the minky is very cute, but I'm uncertain whether I like the stiffness of the waterproof layer - but then I guess that's the price you pay if you want a really leakproof minky nap!
Anyway, it's gorgeous and well done Stacey.

i put mine on charli today for the first time and loved it....so so so so so soft!
although, it was abit bulkier than my other pockets but that's the fabric it's made of i guess. the snaps aren't quite in the right place for charli yet...i got a large so she just has to grow into it
i was impressed with the quality of the workmanship, very professional stacey!!!

The waterproof layer is different - more plasticky - but it's not at all stiff. In fact the fit is really nice on and Leo will actually pick his Foxybots over his Fuzzis if given the opportunity so they are obviously very comfortable! If you don't mind the extra bulk (for the minky fabric) it's way more leak-proof than anything else I've tried and by far the cutest looking.

The fact that it's a little stiffer than PUL did cross my mind when developing them. But it works better than PUL and when it's on a butt it isn't noticeable at all.
Daniels quite cute and kinda pats his nappies hehe..
But thanks for the good comments ladies!
