Ok I brought my Telecom cellphone a few years ago (when the Lions were here - rugby) and I put it on an open contract.

Today I get a txt from Telecom telling me that my phone will not be able to be used in Australia from the end of the month. So I went into the Telecom shop and asked what it meant and she explained the above and told me that as i'm on a contract i'll just be able to "upgrade" my phone.

Now doe that mean that they'll just give me a new phone? Or will I have to pay for it??

I got a bit confused.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Depends what plan you're on, some plans you can upgrade to certain handsets for free but some you have to pay for the new handset, altho it's usually cheaper than if you were just buying the handset and not on a plan.

DH has been with Telecom on a plan for years and he got a free phone from them a month or so ago. He did have to agree to be on a plan for another 12 months + but he wasn't planning on changing so it was a nice little bonus.

yeah my stepdad just got a new phone from Telecom as his plan allowed that. The best part was that he then could change his old phone over to a prepay and now DH has it. A $300 phone that is not much more than a year old... We're stoked
