Bring on the Mylanta! I can't believe how early this has started tho, I've only eaten toast today coz I'm still recovering from the tummy bug, yet tonight I have wicked heartburn.
Anybody else had it this early, or is it just something that gets progressively worse with each pregnancy? i don't even remember having it this early with the gremlins and there were two of them.

I did with Alize. I have never suffered with heart in my life until the beginning of the second trimester with him.  I literally was eating titralac in my sleep lol

I've got the rest of your Mylanta you didn't finish after you had the gremlins. I'll send it back. I'm sure I got it with Caleb from about 20 weeks.

I can't remember when I started getting heartburn but I'm sure it was early. And it lasted right through ... We should have named him Harrison Gaviscon!

I found sleeping with more pillows helped slightly, as did drinking a glass of milk. And not having orange juice (eek, found that out the hard way).

God no Kelly, I don't drink it, I chew the lemon-mint flavoured chewy tab things. I tried liquid Gaviscon once with Maya and spewed my guts out, it was awful!

Mum thinks it was prob a combination of the pregnancy and the tummy bug that made it so bad last night, I hope so coz it was icky! I made me an all-milk milo before bed and it was the most bizarre sensation feeling the hot milk run over the back of my throat where the acid was burning

I have only just developed it - a couple of weeks to go so not much room in there I suppose!

I find it is worse after eating bread - so maybe the toast didn't help.

I read somewhere online that an apple helps, and I tried it - it worked!!! Also someone was eating 3 bananas a day , but I haven't tried that yet as the thought makes me ill...

Here in China I can't get quick-eze or anything. I only have an old jar of Eno, which I think makes it worse.

Thank goodness apples are easy to get!

I definitely got heartburn from around that time, with this pregnancy Not fun at all!

However, for me, I found that having a relatively empty stomach actually made it worse.... so perhaps that was part of your problem as well? (Now though it doesn't matter... I'm far enough along that heartburn is basically a given )

My m/w recommended eating almonds when feeling that way. I don't like them so never tried it.

My cousin had heartburn in all her pregnancys and then when she was expecting her third baby she discovered an Osteopath that got rid of it for her! She wishes that she had of discovered him sooner. His name is Matt Barratt and he works in Westmere.

OOOh, i feel sorry for you, it's so horrible! I had it with both Reuben and very early on with Eden (around 12 weeks). I was drinking bucket loads of mylanta (yuck yuck yuck) until my midwife prescribed me these wee magic pills!!!! You need to take one every 12 hours, and not with iron if you need to be taking that, but they worked an absolute treat. Cant for the life of me remember what they are called but im sure your midwife or doctor will know them. No sign of heart burn yet.. finger crossed and knock on wood.

Were they called Losec (Omeprazole)? My doctor has prescribed them for me, but I notice that there are quite a few adverse affects associated with this medication (that she didn't tell me about) so I'm not sure if I want to take.

I had it from about half way through pregnancy...Not nice!!!
I drink Mylanta, I dont mind the taste so much( i know Im weird)
Stay away from orange juice That is not great at all. I eat smaller meals more often and that seems to help alot.
Even tho i really love fatty foods, have cut those right down as well, as i think that is another trigger.

Good luck, and i hope it eases for you chickie.

Yes, that could of been it now i think of it. I too was worried about the side affects but after talking to my midwife about it, decided that it would be fine. The main concern for me was how it can lower the absorbtion of iron (mine was very low), but if you time it right then there's no prob. (just like not drinking tea or coffee to close to taking your iron pills!) They were fantastic... i had got to a point where i couldn't even have a glass of water without suffering!
