Topic: Can toddlers break their noses? Posted: 15 February 2008 at 4:19pm |
Elle had a little fall down a stair and she had some blood coming out of her nose which has stopped. It is now bruised and swollen around the bridge of the nose.
:( She seems ok, a bit upset.

I'm not sure either but if you are worried then a trip to the doctor probably wouldn't hurt.
Hope she feels better soon! *hugs*

Sounds like a stupid question I know!! They don't appear to have a bone in the nose as such. She seems ok, just looks a little battered :(

Awwww Elle, hopefully its not broken.
But I would get it checked out if it bleeds again or looks crooked.

NO they can't!! Found this out a few months ago when Joey pushed one of his wee friends into a door frame we thought she had broken her nose as under her eyes went black etc. but her mum took her to a&e and said that they can't break their noses at this age as the bone isn't hard yet. I can't remember whether it's 4 or 6 when they can? Get it checked out though anyway to be on the safe side if you are worried at all!!

I too am sure they cant, i think the age is closer to the 6 years....the bone hasnt grown and it's only 'gristle' , but like the others say, no harm checking if you are worried!

The bone hasn't formed enough to break. Caleb had a face plant yesterday too, a little blood nose, and today has a little scrape off the side of his nose that has scabbed up. He was a bit upset for an hour or so then forgot about it.
