Just have a Question about food allergies
On Saturday James had banana and all of a sudden he came up with huge red splotches all voer his body.
I havent given him any since then and the splotches are completely gone.

So was wondering do you think it's an allergy?
I'm thinking of getting both kids tested for food allergies cause I think Haleigh might be allergic to certain perservatives like I was as a kid.

Poor thing loves banana's so much and it's only jsut started happening he never had a problem until now with them/

Yup sure does sound like a food intolerance/allergy of some kind!
I personally have severe allergies to several foods and also have anaphylaxis, eczema and asthma ...the works! I reacted to eggs when i had my MMR vaccine as a bub ...was tested at around 18months and thats when all the peanuts, nuts, eggs, chicken, fish, seafood etc etc allergies showed up!

My little man can't eat tomatoes ...He absolutely loves them, but after a couple of days he started coming up in a HUGE rash and I knew instantly it would have been due to the tomatoes as they were the only change in his diet & as a kid i was also partially allergic to them due to their acidity!

So yeah, in short I'd probably stay clear of banana's and mention it to your DR when you are next there and look at having him tested ...not sure if they do it that young!

Aw, stink for youse!  Sounds like bananas are a no-go.  Most of us are taught that they're a 'safe' food but I remember Emma finding out that they weren't for a gremlin .  Hope you get the tests when you want them! |

My nephew used to have issues with bananas too but he grew out of it by 3 years old - hope James is the same.

Yep, my Mercedes got hives from banana when she was smaller so we took her off banana for a few months and now she seems fine with them.

   thanks for that.
yeah james was fine up until last week with bananas, he can eat apple now which i wouldnt have even gone anywhere near while he was younger as it unsettled his reflux.
i hope its jsut a phase cause he loves bananas, when boos eating them she has to learn she cant share it with him anymore he isnt impressed either.

the doc said we would have to wait a while before a allergy test with james but haleigh can get one done anytime

Sounds like an intolerance. I know of several kids who can't eat banana and the naturopath we saw said they are a common allergen.

hopefuly he'll grow out of it. Tyde has had a dairy intolerance since birth (major tummy cramps/wind/reflux etc) and went onto Neocate, majorly different/easy baby... the dietitian said he 'may' grow out of it, and we've started him bck on normal formula and he seems to be tolerating it quite well.
good luck

Opps I thought I had replied to your question, yeah my diet is vegetarian based ...I eat lamb/beef on occasion ...maybe once a week?
I basically survive on veges, pasta, wheat & dairy ...i'd be stuffed if Lucas was allergic to any of these! As I can't prepare the foods I am allergic to, so therefore he is going to be living on the same diet as me!

 So fingers crossed!

Intolerance to bananas is a latex allergy/intolerance (intersting aye, I would never have known if I hadn't done reading around allergies) so maybe do a google abotu latex allergies and see what else it effects food wise.
