Topic: Rechargeable Batteries... Posted: 27 February 2008 at 12:31am |
Just wondering ...
We use Energizer Rechargeable batteries with our Digital Camera's ...have had the 4 batteries we alternate using; for about 15 months now & have noticed that even after 48hours + of charging they are still empty and can only get about 40 photos out of them before they die again!
Correct me if I'm wrong but I was led to believe rechargeable batteries last a lifetime ...or at least longer than what they have! Anyone know what the deal is?

okay, someone told me this - so not sure how realiable the info is. Apparntly you should wait until batteries are completely dead before recharging. If you recharge them before this, they now can only be drained to that point - rather than completely. now if you do this for a while - rather than having the entire battery - you've actually only got a small portion. Hope you get this! now, once again - no idea if this is actually true, BUT somethng I heard.

I've heard the same thing Lizzle. We also have an energizer recharger and we found after several years that we were charging them wrong. We were charging them for 6 hours, when apparently they need to be charged until the light goes out, usually 12 hours. We have found our batteries now last ages.

Yep I thik that is right, you are meant to fully discharge and charge a few times at the start. We use them and they last quite well now. Wejust dont have enough

The other problem is often with the camera - you can clean off the battery contact points and usually that has some effect.
Otherwise I don't know because I am having trouble with mine too!!

Yeah you don't have to completely discharge them each time but every now and then it is good to completely discharge before recharging.
They won't last a lifetime though, nothing does.
It is also good to do the complete discharge with your mobile now and then as well, which means even if it switches itself of you keep switching it on until it won't even do that anymore then charge it.
