Topic: does anyone else feel like this? Posted: 29 February 2008 at 10:54am |
ok, maybe i'm just a strange kinda weirdo but whenever i'm out and about and walk past a baby either in a pram or being held, i just have to look at it!! i feel like such a nosey tart, but i just can't help myself
this is also very embarrassing to admit......but yesterday i was in the warehouse and i could hear a newborn crying, so i went down the next isle just so i could have a look! i also get a strong urge to want to pick a crying baby up!
is there something wrong with me??????

Nah seriously though I can never resist a peek either...think it's a natural urge to either check out an adorable child or be sure yours is more adorable!

well i took Ethan out yesterday and if you are crazy so is every single woman of child bearing age....about 50 people looked into his pram..and gave me that smile:) so I'd say you are totally normal(or roughly 50 people in the mall yesterday are crazy:) )

After work last night we went into town to meet some friends, we were sitting outside on the pavement and I was holding their 8 week old son....99% of people who walked past looked and gave that smile they give. Mind you, I'm clucky as a mother hen, so it didn't bother me LOL I felt so proud that they thought that I could possibly be the mother of this gorgeous creature.

I can't help having a peek too, and notice a lot of women stealing glances at my buggy in return... get a few "gosh, there's 2 of them!" comments usually followed by "Are they twins?" and something along the lines of "Wow, you're going to be busy" when they notice the bump!

I must admit the good thing about the Phil and Teds is that people can't see at a glance that the gremlins are twins so I get less of the "oh look, there's twins" that I used to get when they were smaller in the side by side buggy, but we do still get drooled over quite regularly.
I don't do it when I have my own kids with me coz I'm too busy making sure they aren't terrorising anyone, but when I'm out without the kids I must confess to being a baby-watcher. Which probably makes me look like a real weirdo!

I still go "awwwww a cute little bubba" and then "gosh, that's such a new little baby!" and give "that smile" that Kate talked about hehe. But I also find myself watching people up town with 2 or 3 yos who are fussing or tantying etc, I'll never know the full story but usually I think to myself "oh that kid's just hungry/tired, I hope you're going home soon" and occasionally I've given the odd encouraging (I hope!) smile to the parent who looks like they are handling the grizzling really well and being firm etc - I really wanna pat them on the back !!
