Was just wondering if anyone here knows anything about PAFT, or is part of the PAFT program (PAFT = Parents As First Teachers)

Yep we are. What do you want to know. Its great. They come out every month and write a whole lot of stuff about your kiddie and give you activitys to do and and handouts that tell you what your child should be doing for their age.

My step-sister did it and has a whole lot of stuff she's going to give me. She said it was great and the "toys" they show you how to make are LOVED by the kids, yet really simple. one was a water bottle, filled with glitter and water.

We do it too and it is fabulous!! The toys and hand outs are great, and my paft educator is amazing!! If you get the chance I would definitely say do it!!

Ditto to what everyone else has said!! - I did get a "bad seed" when I was living in Foxton but the one from Palmy was great and so is the one up here in Taranaki. They are great with showing you how to make toys at home the encourage your children to learn and also give you information on other activites around the area (Mainly music, playcentre etc)
It's all free, all at your own home and I am soooo glad I am with PAFT!!
Hope you enjoy it

yep my boys are with PAFT and its great and a really positive experience for not only bubs but for the parents. On the reports my PAFT lady always writes neat stuff about the boys and me so makes me feel like I am doing a top job of being a mum. Also all the handouts and ideas are brilliant

nope no criteria. But you need to do it while you are pregnant or before your baby is 4 months old

I got put on2 it through my midwife cause I'm a "young mum"...
Certain circumstances put you at the top of the "list"
- Low income
- Single parent
- first child
- YOung parent
That is what my m/w said to me anyway!!
