Topic: TEETH! Posted: 26 March 2008 at 10:22am |
None of my kids have ever had problems with teething, and I've always thought that teething is used as an excuse for a multitude of things, but I take it back. My poor Mercedes is having a really rough time with her top molars One is thru, but the other one is stuck under her gum and is all swollen and hot. She was up half the night last night just grizzling in pain even after panadol and bonjela.
And as a point of interest, how exactly are you meant to get Bonjela onto the molars when you have to negotiate your way past rows of sharp fangs to reach them?

Hold her mouth open by gently pressing on her cheeks, back near her ears, where the two rows of gums meet,...its a reflex, your mouth automaticlly opens,..try it on yourself!
The eyeteeth are worse

aaarrrggg Teeth!!!! I've got two teething at the moment Alyssa is grumpy and screams and whimpers while she's sleeping and Alex (nearly 10) is getting her adult molars and one that should have come out is stuck and has to be pulled out on Friday because the gum is getting infected. They never seem to stop the tooth fairy owes her for 4 teeth already.....she's such a slack fairy

Oh yeah, she'd love that - she'd eat the whole tube! That was half the problem, she'd lick it off my finger before I could get it in far enough

Sienna is getting her 2yr old molars at the mo and she seems to remember the bonjela everytime she sees you with it she opens her mouth.
Sorry not any helpful advice but have you tried teeth med spray? I think thats what its called Sienna loved that stuff

Arghh Ashleigh HATES bonjela! Scream way worse with me putting it on her than just with sore teeth so I don't use it now. Hope Mercedes stubborn tooth comes through soon. Ash is cutting her last molar (apart from 2yo) and it is taking its sweet time also.

Yeah we gave up on bonjela...too scared of the rows of fangs just waiting to chomp down!!
Teethmed has always worked good for us too.

I was gonna say that she'd probably like a bone hahaha that's really funny!!
Can you get to her molar via the side of her mouth instead of straight in the front? I hate molars too, my kids never fussed on the front teeth

I've had several puncture wounds from DD deciding that my fingers would make a tasty snack - but we decided to be mean and teach her that there would be no "jella" if she kept chomping on me - she still tries to slurp it off but we have a lot more success getting some on the actual gum where the teeth are breaking.
