Alyssa has a Galaxy highchair which I purchased from Babycity when it was on special. I assume there must be thousands out there BUT Alyssa managed to snap off a small bit of plastic about the size of a match stick which covers a button and she had it in her mouth she could easily have choked on this small piece if I hadn't noticed. I snapped off the one on the other side and it came off so easily it's scary.

I have reported it the the company that manufactured the highchair and they say they will talk to the factory about it, but they have never had a complaint before.
Anyway I'm thinking of reporting it to the Ministry of Consumer affairs.... would you?

Yes I definitely would, the safety of your child was put at risk due to a fault in the manufacturing of this product! Who's to say there isn't other high chairs of the same brand/batch out there that also contain this fault?

I'm constantly worrying about Lucas choking on small pieces of plastic and whatever it may be that he decides to pick up off the floors! I'd imagine that they should have tough safety standards/procedures that they should be running by these products before putting them on the market! A small piece of plastic (especially if its sharp) swallowed can cause a load of problems ...a member of my family (distant family) had swallowed something sharp off the floor, parents didn't know until he ended up in starship with a bleeding bowel (passing blood in his bowel motions) ...they put it down to him swallowing something sharp and it piercing an organ on the way down ...

Definitely run it by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs.

Then again, are the factory going to get back to you? Coz they may issue a voluntary recall if they find the problem is widespread in which case you wouldn't need the MCA.
