Topic: Best night nap 4 toddler? Posted: 31 March 2008 at 12:45pm |
We currently use a Petite size fuzzi stuffed with a trifold hemp/MF insert and one HC mircofibre insert. The absorbancy level is perfect, and works great if I dress Isla straight before bed, but if she is up for a bit after her bath, then the leg holes gap heaps,..and I end up giving up on it in fear it will leak everywhere during the night- which has happened a bit lately.
She's is mediums in the day.
So do I need to get some large pockets for night? Will this help? Or try something else? HELP!! We hate sposies,..and I NEED an excuse for new naps!

you could try a soaker or fleece cover over the top to contain any leaks???
but if you want an excuse then yes get a larger size..!!

I second the soaker idea - I love having Seb's pair of shorties to put on over his night pocket... never get a leak through that! And then they just need airing in the hot water cubboard or line before going on again the next night. (but then if they get really wet they might need washing every now and then - ours don't usually get wet)

I have 2 suggestions:
1. Upsize to a large Fuzzi, which is what we did for Leo just over a year old (he was wearing mediums during the day).
2. Buy a Foxybots minky nappy, which has an awesome hidden waterproof layer between the minky & the fleece. Also the pocket is bigger thanin a Fuzzi so you can stuff more without getting the gaping at the legholes. I now use Foxybots on Leo at night with a hemp/mf trifold and a 2 layer hemp fleece trifold underneath. To give you an idea of fit - Leo wears a large Foxybots during the day on the tightest waist fitting and second tightest leg fitting. But at night with the extra stuffing he wears it one popper bigger. Leo is 19mths & 12.75kg. The pic shows him wearing one about 3mths ago (maybe one popper smaller, but still stuffed for overnight).

I would try going up a size. Alex is in large (mainly tweedle) pockets during the day, but I have an XL for night time, and it works really well. He was ending up wet through, no matter what I did when he was in L at night. (Although I have not yet tried using a soaker - thats my next mission).
And I second the foxybot idea. They are def bigger than other nappies, (and by far the cutest nappies around!!)
Good luck!!

These are soakers. They stop any leaks going through to pjs, bedding etc

Do you actually NEED the petite?!?!? It's just as wide as the medium but as long (high in the rise) as a large which makes me think that is why it's gapping - the crotch creeps down her legs?!?!?
I stuff C's night time nappy with 3 HC inserts, still use her mediums and don't have any gaping or leakage issues, admittedly it ends up HUUUUGE but she's not going anywhere lol. Maybe try your insert conbination in a medium and see how you go with that.

Ok will try a med Toni! I have just always used the bigger nappys at night to accomadate all the stuffing. Have worked fine until recently, but they just dont fit right anymore. Gone to bed with a sposie on again tonight
Shes on the tightest waist snap, and second tightest thigh snap of mediums in the day.

We found only Daniels naps with stitched down elastic did that.. it just didn't seem to stay close to his legs with night time stuffing.

Sounds about the same as Caitlin (unless she wiggles a lot then she's on whatever snaps I could get done up LOL)
Funny how roll out fleece works for some and not others -With all roll out fleece nappies I've trialled (for research purposes LOL) I had the same problem with them all not sitting right against C's chubby thighs - they would consitently leak for us

I third or fourth a foxybot for night. Josh is in a medium fuzzi during the day and in a medium Foxybot (stuffed really full) and there is no gapping.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
