Topic: Strange rash Posted: 03 April 2008 at 1:33pm |
Sienna's nappy rash is looking way better than it did the other day, it was raw and bleeding but now it is just a bit red. But she has developed this weird, random rash along the edge of her thigh on one leg only that looks like a rash of pimples with tiny pussy heads on them. It's spreading from under her nappy area down the top of her thigh, but as I said, only on one side.
Does anyone know what it might be, and if so, what to treat it with? I'm using Bepanthen and Karicare Ointment on the rash on her bottom.

That sounds similar to what Michaela and her cousins (Wigglesfans kids) had.
Wigglesfans doctor said it was heat rash and my doctor said it was related to Michaela's infected foot so the truth is I don't think either of them had a clue, but on the plus side Michaela's rash is gone done now (I used bepanthan too).

LOL, good ole doctors huh! Truth be told, it does *look* like a staph rash (ie. from an infection) but she doesn't have any cuts etc. Unless the open wounds on her bottom let the infection in? Argh, I don't want to go to the doctor! Will remain in denial...

It sounds like what Leo had when he was cutting teeth at around 11mths. He got bad nappy rash that was raw & made his bottom bleeding (as a direct result of acid poo) and in the end he got some blisters with white pussy tops (sorry, tmi!!). I took him to the Dr and he said that the white puss indicated a bacterial infection and he prescribed oral antibiotics and a butt cream. I ended up putting him in sposies for a couple of days so that I could strip & disinfect all his cloth nappies and also I found that in cloth because the area was staying warm the sores just weren't drying up. As much as I hate sposies they served a purpose and within a week he was all healed & back in his lovely cloth.

I think I might have to take her to the doctor. She was up half the night screaming last night which isn't all that unusual for her, but today she has been really lethargic and clingy and grouchy so I think I should prob get her checked out. Will take her to the after hours once Willie gets home to save dragging them all down there.

Also good for nappy rashes is: baking soda baths, wetting nappy cloths with baking soda solution before cleaning babies bottom & manuka honey (yep, straight from the kitchen pantry - stings like a mother the first few times it's used but clears up the rash really well as has antibac properties)
