Just wondering when you started your babies on finger foods? The carrot chart suggests 8 months but I was wondering if there was anything he could have earlier than that? He loves his marmite on toast rusks etc
I don't want to risk choking but he is Mr Independent and is always grabbing at everything trying to feed himself!

I started finger foods at about 7 months. No trouble here. I cooked up steak until it was tough and cut it into fingers like 'meat rusks', she loves those. Cruskits with vegemite, cooked carrot sticks.

Meat rusks are a great idea! Might have to steal that!

We started with rusks between 5-6 months and then went nuts with finger foods. He has no issues with choking. In the beginning he gagged sometimes but I just kept an eye on him and he sorted himself out.

I like the idea of meat rusks, might try that tonight. I started Lachie on finger food about 7 ish months, loves cooked vege sticks, apple, makes some great faces with orange and pineapple. Avacado is his fav. He also likes pasta cooked up and then just mucks around with it but also seems to enjoy eating it, along with seeing how much he can get on the floor!

Thanks everyone for your help, keep the ideas coming!

He is just not particularly interested in food, I get a few spoon fulls in and then its all bribery and corruption!

But he will eat alot of marmite on toast or basically anything he can do himself, he even feeds himself hand over hand thats the only way I get food into him easily
