Topic: Breast lump Posted: 08 April 2008 at 8:37pm |
Hey I am not quite sure if this is the right place for this but I will ask anyway.
About a month and a half ago I noticed a lump on my breast and didn't think too much of it but I have noticed over the last couple of days it has got bigger and sort of lumpier. It is hard and sort of moves, DH can also feel it. It has just started getting a little itchy.
I am breastfeeding and figure it is probably related to that. Just wondering if anyone has had anything similar and do you think I need to get it checked?

Doesn't hurt to get it checked, infact I'd recommend you go to your GP just to be on the safe side! I've have mastitis several times& on one occasion turned into a skin infection from a lump on the outside of breast. Wasn't pleasant!
Otherwise only other things I can suggest are cabbage leaves stuffed down your bra, hot wheat packs & drink lots of water. Also get bub to feed off that breast a lot to empty it.

I'd definitely recommend you go see your GP, whether you think its something benign or not. Its probably nothing, but it won't hurt to find out...

I think I will make an appointment tomorrow, I just don't want to look neurotic! It is not sore and doesn't seem to have had any effect on Lachlan's feeding, or my milk supply

Def get it checked just in case. It sounds like what they call a "breast mouse" which is a harmless lump. I had one that virtually appeared over night but has since gone (took several months). They call it a mouse as it is hard and moves. The spot where mine was is still tender but the lump has gone.

I actually know what your talking about, i think i had the same thing. Does it feel like its a lump in the middle of the breast? Feels really lumpy like? If so i had the same thing when i was breastfeeding or had just stopped, i went to the doc, they made an appointment at the hospital for me, but it was 5 months later! By that time it was gone so i never went..
