Hey ladies
Over the last two weeks Arna has been quite sick. First of all two weeks ago she had a real bad stomach bug when she got a real bad nappy rash (red everywhere imaginable) , then she got the chickenpox and they ended up all over her rash. Anyway the spots are clearing up but the rash isn't.. and today she has taken 3 steps back and is feeling real sick (not letting me touch her, not eating, not drinking) - When she was sick she seemed herself but then you could tell she was sick if you get that?

Anyway rang the Dr before and he finishes at lunchtime but am going in to see the nurse at 3pm.

Should I be worried that the infection is real bad or should I just keep an open mind and put it down to a "baby" thing?

Sorry Arna has never been sick before so this is real hard on me and just need some advice

just a few questions - although hopefully you have been to the docs by now - did you take her to the docs at the start to get it diagnosed as chicken pox, or just assume?..

Also is it just the nappy rash that is bad now? ie the chicken pox are going away, just the nappy rash the prob? if so, it could take a bit for nappy rash to go because it has had chicken pox on top of it to contend with. Keep an eye on her - you are doing/have done the right thing by going to see the nurse/doc. i hope she's feeling better soon.

poor arna!! and poor mum dealing with it. i hated it when jake was sick and there is nothing you can do for them...then they get all whiney asnd grizzly and you get angry with them....then guilty at yourself because they are sick..ARHHH, never understood the phrase "mixed emotions" properly until becoming a mum i think!

Janine - Yeah we have been to the Dr about 4 times in the last 3 weeks (including yesterday) - 1st was "gastro something" then Chicken pox then nappy rash then rash again!!
We were given Pinetarsol for the bath, Micreme H for her rash and some cream used for piles etc as it has a anesthetic in it (to numb her bum) and also Zinc and Castor oil cream!! I feel like im turning my daughter into some cream freak!!

Thanks for all your advice / sympathies (im too tired to think of proper words!) - She seems like she's getting better now so thats the main thing. Chicken pox are clearing so just have this freaken rash to deal with!!

Lena, I hope she is feeling much better soon. What a time you've had. sounds like you are well on the way to having it all sorted now though.

I find Bepanthen for Nappy Rash REALLY excellent!!!! Joey only had nappy rash badly once at 2 weeks old and this cleared it up in less than a day. Now if there is evewr a sign of redness I put some on and it is gone by the next nappy change!!!

I really hope Arna is feeling better and mum is too...

Well in the last 5 days arna rash is JUST starting to clear up!! Put a nappy on her yesterday cause we were going out and looked at it about 10 mins later and it was RED - she had started bleeding from her rash (still dont know where. Poor little girl
She is over C/P so it is just the bum we are trying to clear up!!
Tried Bepanthen but it was when arnas rash was real bad so I dont think anything wouldve helped it!!

Thanks for all your help ladies! Thankfully we got through it unscathed!!
