A random child and his parents today.....

I never normally bother but was feeling brave today, this kid kept really hurting Ethan today, we were at the playground at glenfield mall...at first i ignored it, then he started following him to pinch him, and push him. Random childs mother was watching at first then did nothing, then she left...I'm not kidding she was over near the kebab place sitting behind a tree doing paper work, she could not see her kid at all, about ever 10mins she would come and check him, (i'm guessing he was about 2.5)

Anyways after him coming up to Ethan grabbing his arm and pinching him really really hard, I went over to him, clapped super loud in his face and told him to STOP hurting the children.

Then I marched over to his mum and dad and said "is that your child in the playground" dad defencivly said which one. I said in my snarkyest voice "the one that is not being supervised that is hurting all the children" Mum rushed over to get him and asked why he was crying. I said "probably because he was left alone and I growled at him, sort your sh*t out woman.." then walked away...

I have found this at that same playground before too, good on you for standing up for your boy and saying something about it!

I agree, that's totally shocking. Checking on him every 10 mins I know how much trouble a 2 yo can get into at home in less than 10 mins I don't even want to think about the kind of trouble they can get into out in public - bullying other peoples kids is the least of it with the kind of predators and pshycos that are out there.

good on you for speaking out but not so good for the choice of language perhaps.

oh and i leave my 2.5 yr old in the playground at sylvia park while i browse in the shop next to it and buy coffee from the cafe next door too.

oh and i have spoken to a parent and child who bit mine in the same playground, while i was in there. I dont believe getting snarky to them really helps, it will only get their backs up.

But yes we should speak out more ...

Well good on you for saying some thing. I can understand your anger.

Every time I go to Pakuranga (mum works there), my DD wants to play in the play ground. We let her (we as in Mum and I) but watch her every second. If she is not sharing or telling other kids off, we talk to her and tell her to stop and if she doesnt then we take her out of the play area all together. I would expect the same from other mums. But you are right, some parents just leave them and do their own thing. I cant understand how they can do that.
