I'm looking at buying a buggy now. Michaela refuses to sit in her stroller but she was fine sitting in my sisters buggy when we were in Akl.

I really want to buy NZ made so was looking at Mountain Buggy (which doesn't seem to come with a toddler seat anymore - thinking ahead since #2 & #3 will *fingers crossed* be close in age). I heard that Phil & Teds have now outsourced their manufacturing and so aren't NZ made anymore.

Does anyone know what buggys are NZ made? Has anyone tried a couple of different types, what's your preference?

The only other one I can think of is the Pedigree Sport, that also has a toddler seat (they are sold at The Baby Factory), although they can be quite heavy as made out of steel vs aluminium alloy.

Also P&T is a NZ company but is buggy made in NZ or off shore? I can't remember. And MB never had a toddler seat.

Thanks, I heard P&T grew to big so they're now made off shore but this is unconfirmed. If it's true it sux considering unemployment in NZ went up 29% in 3 months.

I'd still consider getting a P&T but I also heard the toddler seat is a PIA when you have the baby lying down in the main part with the toddler seat at the front because it's hard to access the baby for feeding etc. Anyone got opinions on that?

MB used to have toddler seats when I had one for my niece and nephew (about 6-7 years ago) but I'm now told the reason they don't make them anymore is because they were cr@p - this is also unconfirmed, haven't asked MB for their official stance on the matter. They were definitely very heavy and they made the buggy unstable.

A kiddiboard will be a great accessory for the age Michaela will be by the time we have #2 but if all goes to plan #3 will be here when #2 is still very young (as I say, I'm planning ahead).

The ABC Buggy Company is NZ. see www.abcbuggy.co.nz

They have a toddler seat that goes ontop of the hood, looks great. This is the company that developed the Phil and Teds buggy and then sold the concept.

Other than this it is probably only MB that is NZ made.

With the Phil and Ted once you get the whole getting baby out and in thing sorted it is fine!!
We also have a cocoon for ours, it's kinda like a carry cot that fits inside the pushchair. It has handles so easy to lift baby out in it. It was one of our best investments, we thought maybe we had been sucked in when we bought it but we have used it SO much! I take it with us when we go visiting and bubs sleeps happily in it and it also fold out so you can use it for bubs to lie on.

We totally love our Phil and Ted.

I think I had heard what rachel-nick said above too.

Good luck deciding!

Could be wrong but think all the parts for P&T are made overseas but are still assembled in NZ. If that makes yu feel better. Watched a programme on small businesses that use to be on on either sat or sun mornings last year.
