Topic: Anyone else secretly love it..... Posted: 20 May 2008 at 9:57pm |
When their significant other is out of town for the night???
My DP has been travelling away for work 3 days a week for the last few weeks, but coming home late at night and then flying out first thing the next morning. He is in Napier today, and his flight home has just been cancelled due to fog at the airport.
Now don't get me wrong... I LOVE my DP very much.... but there is something nice about the prospect of the whole bed to myself!
Also, I had the best night tonight - my cousin who is also one of my best and closest friends came over with her little girl who is 5 months younger than Joshua this afternoon, and they stayed for dinner (kids - meatballs and vege croquettes, yoghurt and honey, and an organic apple juice iceblock: mum's = lovely antipasto platter and a glass of red wine). The kiddies played so well together, no fighting or anything. Then they had a bath together, story and bottle together, and then my cousin bundled Sophie home at 7pm.
Sorry, such a meaningless post, but I'm having a lovely time!
Hope you are all having/have had a lovely night too

I have loved the past 4 months of having the bed to myself. however i do get a night time visitor every now and then. I usualyl leave him there if it is close to 6am but I try to get him to stay in his own bed.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Thank goodness I'm not the only one!
Also, funny thing is that I am up waaaaaaaaaay later than I normally would be. I'm an 8.30-9pm bedtime girl most nights, but I'm up.... and baking!
And chatting on here

I like the occasional night, especially as then I don't cook dinner as such, usually have spaghetti on toast, can watch what I want on tv, use the computer without battling with him (he is a gamer, not me, I just use the internet!) BUT as time gets closer to EDD I don't really like the prospect of him not being around if it happens early!

I struggle the first night with hearing every noise, but after a while it's fine. DH was away for 10 days then back for 3 which was a PITA now away again for 10, home for a couple of months then away to Germany for 6 weeks. Him not being there has always just been a normalcy for us - he left for 5 months only 5 weeks after we met and I stupidly (just kidding) stayed around for him.
Best thing about them going away (aside from the starfish in the bed) is when they get back you realise you've REALLY missed certain aspects of having a man around

YES! I love it! He doesn't go away often enough for me to resent him for it or anything like that, just often enough for me to enjoy being able to veg with the kids, eat crappy food and sleep all over the bed.

I make no secret... I LOVE IT! DH works till 9:30pm weeknights and falls asleep in the lounge most nights so not only do I get the house to myself (from 7:30-10pm) 5 nights per week I also have a queen size bed to myself. Ah bliss!
ETA: now if I could just get him to move his stinky shoes into another room.....

I'm a big fat wuss- I spend the whole time terrified! I love having the odd evening to myself but when it comes to going to bed and going to sleep I like to know DH is there. I don't think its weird to enjoy it though- I wish I weren't such a scardy cat about it!

Yep love it here. DH goes out to the pub most sat nights and I LOVE it, which is why I don't get savage on his ass.
We get takeaways and watch disney and kids are in bed by 7 and its QUIET.
He goes away a couple of times a yer on rugby or fishing trips and I love it as well, although I miss him, I like doing things my way so I don't have him mucking up my routine on those weekends, its fab.
