I don't think there's been a post about this - sorry if there already has...
We started Daniel on solids just over 2 weeks ago and has been loving it. I've been introducing a new food every 3 days. About 3 days ago it seems he's decided that he doesn't want to eat any of the solids. i've gone back to giving him food that he's had before and liked but he just doesn't seem to want it. I try and put some of it in his mouth and he screws up his face like it's the worst thing that could be happening to him.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on or any suggestions to get him eating again??
(Teeth haven't appeared yet but I think they are well on their way)
How old is he? This is perfectly normal. Maybe just hold off for a few days then try again. Could be related to teething. Does he like baby rice? I always fine that's a safe bet, mixed with fresh fruit.
Yeah I would leave it a few days try again and if not keen still leave it a few more days. I find even now Spencer goes through hungry and then fussy phases. We are just coming out the other side of a couple of weeks of lump refusal. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow and not force it as you don't want to turn meal times into a battle ground.
If after a week or two he still isn't keen then I would just let him play with his food and spoon so that he associates it with fun and he will probably start to eat some of it off of his finges and then from there you can give him his own spoon whilst feeding him off of another.
At that age solids aren't very important so like cuppatea said, give it a few days and try again.
We still have periods of time where our Daniel refuses to eat (which does drive me nuts). Letting them play with it is good. I'd just get fed up and pour a tin of food on his high chair tray and let him play and suck his fingers. Some would at least go in
Yep, we had this a couple of weeks back. We just didn't give her solids for about 1.5 weeks and then started her again with her absolute favourites. She is still a little wary of food especially if it's new. We found when we reintroduced, to not give new foods very often - about every 4-5 days.
The whole not eating thing was just a big stress (re the battle ground thing) so that is why we gave it a break.
Mum to:
Joy Emily 1.05am 27/09/07 7lb 3oz
Austin Paul 12.47pm 18/04/10 10lb 8oz
My wee boy is 6 months and did a similar thing about 4-5 weeks ago so I didn't give him solids for 3 days and he was back into after that so can recommend the stopping thing.
