Hammocks

DD is 6 weeks and I've been having trouble getting her to sleep since we first bought her home from the hospital.
She will only sleep or 2 1/2 hours at a time. I usually feed her then put her back to bed and she often cries so I rock her until she goes to sleep.

Shes currently sleeping in a bassinet right beside our bed, so I just gently rock her bassinet.

I was wondering if a hammock might be better for her. She prefers to sleep on me at night as she obviously likes the comfort. So the hammock might cocoon her and make her feel more safe and also might gently rock when she wakes.

I don't want to buy one though and have her not like it, but why wouldn't she like it? I'm sure she would love it but it still might not help her sleep better, but I'm desperate to try anything right now. I'm so tired from being up every 2hours at night.

Those of yo that have used them, what do you think? I've also heard that the natures sway one is bigger than others?

Ive tried everything, I've had so many suggestions from everyone and have tried it all but nothing seems to be working.
She really doesnt need to be feeding that often

We have a cariboo motion sway (it's not a hammock, but a basinette) and it was excellent for rocking our bub to sleep as I could either have it hanging in her cot, or on it's stand next to the bed.. she was 6 weeks old when she slept through for the first time and I believe that it was the motion sway that helped her along the way a little

Oh and DS initially would only settle lying on DH at night in those first few weeks. Just him getting used to the world outside I reckon.

We had a NaturesSway one for DS and found it great. The thing I loved about it is his own movements would rock/bounce him and help with settling. I also would give it a good swing which would rock him for 5 mins or so which was enough to settle him to sleep. I highly recommend them

I have the Miyo and the NaturesSway ones on my website if you wanted to compare brands. Have you tried a swaddle wrap? SwaddleMe These are excellent for keeping baby warm and snug.

DS was in his until around 7 months and he was not a small baby - very solid & long.There was still room left so would have been able to stay in longer too.
He also had reflux, we found he slept really well in the hammock (did try him in the cot but didn't sleep well at all).

I think the monitors with the sensors need to be on a flat surface - so under a mattress so wouldn't think they would to suitable to use with a hammock.

I've just been into Baby Factory and now I'm so confusd about what hammock to buy.

Th Miyo & Natures Sway ones are $199. The Little Snuggles one on Trade Me is about $150 with postage.
So I'm not sure what one would be best. I guess they are basically all the same anyway, but I want to make sure I get the best for my money

Any suggestons?

Does the Natures Sway have domes at the end of it? All the photos I've seen have just ben open at the bottom and it looks like baby could fall out. I know they wouldn't but thats how it looks.

Can you do up the domes when they are smaller then leave them open as they get longer?

How do you use them if you are renting? Wouldn't want baby hanging from a door frame at night, and can't really put a hole in the ceiling to attach a hook to. Do they come with a stand too?
