Topic: Groovy Movies Posted: 14 March 2006 at 3:20pm |
ok, heres another non baby subject.
In my pre baby days, I used to get to the movies once a week. It is well known, far and wide that I am a horror film afficionado, In my favorite all time movies list, there is a few of these types, namely "Dawn of the Dead (04)" and "The Exorsist (25th anniversary)" Actually, I was kind of gutted (heh heh)that I went into labour with JJ when I did, as I had made a date with a friend to see "Amityville Horror"...
Anyhow I thought I'd see what movies Y'all like and who recomends what.
All time Faves are "Almost Famous", "Love Actually" , "Bram Stokers Dracula" and "Life is beautful" (a FABBO italian war film)as well as the above horrors..
I saw "The Notebook" on sky last week, and it was the best "love story weepy schmaltzy" movie I have seen in ages, ALMOST as good as "Love Actually" *warm fuzzies* *warm fuzzies* and "Sweet Home Alabama" (I *love* Reese. If Jake was a girl, he was going to be Reese)
So I am reccomending all of the above, and "Walk THe Line" which I saw last week. Excellent.
And, to round it out "Skeleton Key", a great didn't see THAT coming twist.

I saw wrong turn on sunday on sky. it was like a cross of the newer version of texas chainsaw massacre with Jessica Beil in it and this other one (can't remember the name of it right at this minute) that came out about 2 years ago with a cabin in the woods, a flesh eating sickness and teenagers camping and inbreeds. All good horror fodder. Am keen on seeing hostel, looks scary. Have you seen either of the "Saw" movies? I haven't but am interested..

My all time favourite would be Dirty Dancing followed very closely by Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo and The Lion King. I love Disney and Pixar movies. My partner is a huge movie buff and we own about 1000 videos and close to 300 DVDs, never lost for choice.
I have seen both Saws and really liked them. As well as Batman Forever(is that the latest one to come out?)

I have a different taste in movies to most of you
I prefer foreign films, or film fest etc - never really watch blockbusters (must admit I like the odd chick flick tho).. my DP got me onto foreign films, they are the best.
Actually, was just saying that I LOVE the Wedding Singer.. my all time favourite lol
Aside from that, you have to see: Amelie, Run Lola Run, Show me Love (aka Fuc*ing Amal), Lilya 4Eva, Closer, 21 grams, Thirteen (directed by Catherine Hardwicke).
I have loads more but if you see one of these you will know what I'm talking about :) :)

I'm with you, Roskana, on the Disney movies! Nathaniel and I love them...
I also like Bond, good action movies, most chick flicks, and fantasy stuff like Merlin and my favourite movie: Willow. In fact, Willow is where Kiya's name is from!
