Topic: Ummm...anybody seen the homebrand?? Posted: 19 June 2008 at 7:57pm |
And if not, what about the signature range?????
Not kidding. We just did our grocery shop and it was startling how many shelves were wiped clear of homebrand products and had really limited signature range products!!! Quite honestly, there were several of us customers standing in front of the shelves with our jaws on the ground in disbelief!!
I think it really is starting to show how tights things are getting money wise for people.

Far out that is amazing, I guess people have clicked on to the fact that Budget/Homebrand/Pams is ok and cheaper.

I noticed that this morning doing my shop at Pak'n'Save that the budget brand and Pams brand were running very low.

I've noticed that a few times in the past couple of weeks, esp the Homebrand pasta, there was none at all the last two times I went to Countdown. Reminds me of the distribution union strike a couple of years back.

Yup it was at glenfield. We're used to them not having as big a selection of items as Takapuna, but for the shelves to be stripped bare was a little nuts!
I'm thinking I should have done the shopping right after I finished work at midday instead of waiting until evening.

Both the countdown and the foodtown are crap there. They NEVER have the specials when I go in, I started shopping at New World in Albany, they always have their catalogue items.

I was looking for homebrand nappies and there was none in either of wloothworths or countdown. I shop at Paky and yeah they do tend to be pretty busy. and the cheaper bran's are going faster.

It's crazy huh? I was doing the shopping in the middle of the day yesterday and there were tons of big empty gaps on the shelves where the store brands should have been. (This was FT in Sunnynook)
I think they are replacing a lot of the Sig Range stuff with Woolworths brand now, which would explain why some of that stuff hasn't been replaced, but eeek! It doesn't help much when all the other budget brands are low too and you wind up having to spend more on label brand stuff!

Our local Whangaparaoa Foodtown was like that on Tuesday as well. There was absolutley no Homebrand pasta at all. There were so many empty shelves I was starting to wonder if I had missed some news!!!

Just a lil thing here... did you know there is no difference between Budget cheese and mainland (normal) cheese? They are done at the same factory etc... on difference is the packaging... found that out from a friend who worked at Mainland (now owned by fonterra)

Speaking to a progressive store manager recently about this, and he said that part of it is a supply issue as opposed to a DC issue.
I agree sometimes there are whole shelves empty of certain products which can be annoying

We have always bought the cheaper stuff, but I am finding now that there is less of it on the shelf!!!
Not too surprising really with the much lower prices than the 'brand' stuff, but the stores are going to have to up their stock or have very pissed off customers!!

I went shopping early on Monday morning at foodtown and the aisles were full of people stocking shelves!!! What a bloody pain!! I guess thats the only time they can do it since stock probably arrived that morning, but thats when their specials start and there were so many people there.

I did a shop last week at Foodtown....don't normally go there as it is too expensive....I spent less than I normally would and came out with more....A full on stock up on Homebrand product....it was awesome
Hopefully there is no problem next time I have to get it all again.
