Best baby wash and other practical stuff!

water that's all we used when Harry was newborn, and often now too. We also got some free mustela stuff from Birthcare that smells sooo yummy, but I think it quite expensive. Sometimes now we used Johnson & Johnson hair and body wash we got given.

We find Curash nappy powder really good.

We have never used talcum powder, but we love curash powder if his butt gets a little red. We rarely use any products on him. A baby set for doing their nails is really handy. Wait and see what type of skin your lil one has before going out and buying lots of products as they may not be the ones best suited for him/her

Yeah I don't think babies need wash products and still don't use any on Anyssa (except ecostore shampoo). Lots of bubbas get dry skin and need moisturiser - this is nice for massage too. I prefer products with natural ingredients - these can be more expensive, but you could add them to your list of things to tell people to buy you when they ask what you would like.

Interestingly, A was the same size as Mandz's Oliver when she was born, but is still bathed in her baby bath! She sits up in it now (we don't have a real bath).

We were the same at Arohanui with Josh he just used Aqueous cream for the first 4 months of his life in the bath. I still get it now at the dr and I use it for me now.

Nope. Lemnis is more oily. We have both, but find aqueous less greasy, I like it better (I use it for myself too).

I agree, babies dont need any wash products, just water! but a bit of moisturiser is handy for dry skin. And as for clippers- I didnt bother with these either, I find it easier just to bite my babies fingernails for him, he is only 1 month and his fingernails are so tiny.

One of the best tip my mid wife gave me is to keep baby wipes for going out and just to use baby flannels and warm water for changing nappies during the day. Baby wipes made my girls bottom red too. Hope I'm not going off track, just thought that may be useful.

Also, I know it's a little more expensive but I LOVE Eco brands nappy balm. I use it for bottom, cradle cap, dry skin and it has none of the horrible industrial nasty ingredients in it. It also seems to last months..

Another great thing to have, especially if baby is born in winter is a naal aspirator to remove any mucous. Sounds gross I know but came in VERY handy for us.

Oh and don't forget about gripe water. I think it's FAB stuff.

We use Bunnykins wash for Cooper, it's soap free. He loves bubbles at bath time. We also use Baby Powder (I love the smell)....

we use the ecostore goats milk soap and find it great, but it's a new discovery for us. never used it for newborn

We use J & J shampoo and the lavender baby bath products, we use these very sparingly and they last quite a while if you are careful. Good to stock up on when on sale, and even better if people can get you bath products for gifts.

Phoenix has a bath that he is almost grown out of, it is on a stand too, and we have that standing up in our shower, so if he splashes (which he generally does) it goes down the drain. So easy too, because when we drain the bath it just goes into the shower drain.

Phoenix likes the shower too, he holds on for dear life and doesn't mind the water running over his eyes, even when he has shampoo on his head (the no tears stuff). I like the smell of the J & J shampoo, I hated the Huggies stuff (even though the pump system is so much easier to use one handed).

We had a bath easy mat in the bath, it helped for a while, now he sits up on a small towel that we put in the bath, so he doesn't slip.

I went a lil overboard stocking up on items before Phoenix was born, and was given alot of stuff too... I probally have 3 different talcs, 3 different bum creams, 4 diff shampoos and washes... soap bars... all sorts. Nice to have, but buy small first and see what suits you.
