Did you change your baby over to cow's milk at 1 year or leave them on formula for a while.    For those that did change it over was it simply formula one day, cows milk the next or do you ease them on to it?

Daniel is still having formula, he only has cows milk on cereal etc.

It actually works out cheaper to keep him on formula so we aren't in a hurry to switch plus we find formula more convenient

I think with R & G I pretty much put them onto cow's milk around 13 months.  But if we were traveling for the day, I'd take formula with me, so the milk wouldn't go off in the car.  Even up til they were 2 yrs old and still had a bottle, I'd do that.

edited to add: oh & I think I just put them straight onto cow's milk, didn't ease them into it, and they were fine with that.

It does depend on how many bottles a day baby is having. Josh is only having 2 bottles a day so cows milk works out cheaper for us (and he still has about 50mls of water mixed in the milk). I have the odd formula packet floating about and us them when we travel.

Andrew went onto cows milk at 15 months and Josh at 12 1/2 months.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Yeah, Daniel still has 3 bottles a day and I worked out that the price of forumla per litre is a teeny less than the cost of milk per litre so really why switch? He likes his formula and it doesn't go off, it doesn't take up lots of room in our fridge. It's just convenient. I'm sure eventually we will move to cows milk but not in a hurry. I do stock up on formula when I see it on special which helps.. whereas I never see milk on special

yeah i didnt want to move miss1 onto cows milk either but the plunket nurse said it would be cheaper and easier......and her digestive system is developed enough to have it.but i have to say having to buy milk every day or 2nd day to begin with wasnt really panning out as cheaper.........(esp if we made porridge that week) .but now she only has 1 bottle inda morning and 1 at night and it was a good incentive for us to start making her drink water and juice more...................we just switched her over....she didnt seem to notice...........

Jack went straight from bf to cows milk at about 1yr. I started by giving him a drink of cows milk but he wasn't fussed/didn't drink much so now he only drinks water. He gets his calcium from milk with porridge, yoghurt each night with dinner and cheese, cottage cheese at lunch

Zac went straight onto cow's milk three days after he turned 1. We flew back to NZ from Saudi so I decided not to take any extra formula with me and luckily he liked it straight away.

The older two went straight from bf to cows' milk and DD3 went from formula to cows' milk - all just on their 1st birthday.

Ella still has 3 bf a day, even through I got by Plunket that when she reaches 1 to drop it down to 2.....the feed I plan to eventually drop would be the midday one, but she is definitely not ready to drop it yet.

I started Coop on it yesterday. 3 weeks shy of turning one, however, circumstance ditates!

I work tuesdays, so instead of havng his BF at lunch he had about 100ml of that Junior Milk. Grandma said he loved it!

I had been giving him spoonfuls of my milk from my cereal for the past few weeks after he would moan and try and pull my bowl away from me

I still BF morning, tea time and once during the night, so he's getting enough from me.
