Hello all
Just wondering the ages of your kids.....and how long they all stayed at home full time for before going into some form of daycare? If any at all?

How did you entertain them all day..in particular toddler boys!
Esp when newborn in the picture?

Andrew was in daycare 4 days a week when I had Josh. It was good as he could go and do stuff there and come home tired.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Jake went into daycare from 3 months to 1 year. From 1 year to 18 months he went a full day once a week. during this time Taine was born.

Then both boys were at home fulltime. Jake was three and Taine two when they went into daycare half days, 4 times a week.

entertaining was TOUGH. we went to playcentre twice a week, and had the keys so we often ran down the road. LOTS of walks - we had sheep and horses down the road so that was good. A huge paddock next door, flying kites was popular too.

Daniel is still at home with me full time, he's probably going into daycare for 2 half days at the end of the year (when I'll hopefully be preg). We don't want to put him in for much more than that.

Jake went into daycare at just over 10 months. He usually does about 4 days a week (less if hes sick, which he constantly is!!) as I'm contracting so hes not doing long days alot of the time and rarely 5 days. He absolutely loves it!   I didn't find it hard to amuse him before he went in, but now thats hes a bit older I struggle if we're home too many days in a row to be honest!!

Jake went into day care when I went back to work when he was 6 months and I kept it for the 20 hours a week until charly was about 6 weeks old (helped ALOT) and cut it back to 3 mornings a week (about 12 hours) which he still does. It means I get one on one time with her when he is away and with him when she is sleeping. Charly just started 2 mornings a week 2 weeks ago (I work one day and have the other to myself) and is thriving. I felt a bit stink about it, but she was getting too big for me to take to work and do my job properly. She absolutely loves it and is thriving, just like Jake did, but yes, it was a god send in those first few weeks with a toddler boy and a new baby. REALLY needed it.

So far only DS1 is at Montessori 2 days a week (yay for just getting another day there). He started at the beginning of this year at the age of 3 1/4 yrs. I'll probably be starting DS2 at the start of next year when he'll be 2 3/4 yrs, will see how I feel as may keep him home till 3yrs.

As for entertaining well we do playcentre, mainly music, gymnastics, lots of walking, parks when fine, used to do swimming but that got too hard with 2 at different lessons and me having to be in the water with them (what are you spose to do with the one not swimming??). Also my SIL is a at home caregiver so we visited her lots when DS2 was justa bubs as it kept DS1 entertained. I really hardley stayed home after DS2 was born as needed to keep DS1 busy. I'm still finding my way this time but busy is still best and bubs just fits in with whatever.

Maya went into full time daycare (well 8.30am till 2.30pm 5 days a week) at 5 mths then moved to Montessori when she was 3.

Gremlins are home full time but I have a nanny so she helps entertain them. I find they play with their toys a lot more than Maya ever did, mostly cos they are here more than she was. The good thing about twins is they do play together and entertain each other, and I take them to playgroup and Mainly Music so they get interaction with other kids.

Jack is in one day a week (9-3) to allow me to go and earn my keep . This will increase to 2 days when #2 is born, and at 3 months #2 will start doing those days too (our dc has a 2-day minimum policy coming in). If I wasn't working I would have Jack at home with me, but probably as he was getting to 18mo I would think about putting him in some form of care anyway. He loves the interaction and he's only 7 months old.

The only thing I don't like is the price tag But oh well, small price to pay for some sanity and to be able to get into work.
