Hi everyone

Amelia, hope Charlie-Rose is enjoying her giraffe supplments, I really feel for you in Chch with the ongoing shakes, when will it end!

Big congratulations Heather, how very very exciting for you!

We haven't tried ttraining Ethan again, plan on leaving it until nearer his 3rd birthday, he still doesn't seem ready. He has been having constant ear infections, currently waiting on an appt with Ear Nose and Throat, I suspect he may end up having grommits.

At the moment we are having ongoing sagas with Dylan and excema, it got so bad that Dylan and I were admitted to hospital for a couple of days last week, it was all clear and we got sent home but it has returned again so back to the doctor we go next week!

CONGRATULATIONS HEATHER!!! That is such awesome news How funny that you were already pregnant Does that make you due about January?

Lea sounds like a tough month with your boys. Winter sucks sometimes. I haven't had experience with Eczema but it sounds pretty intense. Hope he's on the mend soon!

Thanks Amelia! It sure does, end of Jan so works out well as Beau should be home on holiday for the last bit of pregnancy and a few weeks after bubs is here.

How are you guys doing in Christchurch? No decision on whether you stay or move out yet?

Hi everyone, just an update on my boys.

We saw the Ear Nose Throat Specialist the other day (got sick of waiting on the public system so since we have medical insurance have gone private and got an appt within a few weeks).  Anyway the specialist said that Ethan has a very thick glue like substance in both his ears which will be responsible for not only his speech delay but probably was the reason he walked late as well due to affecting his balance.  He recommended Ethan get grommets and we agreed so he is booked in for day surgery on 11 August!

Dylan's execema isn't too bad at the moment mainly due to the several creams I am applying several times a day along ongoing steriods, they seem to presribe a three day course once a week.  We are also waiting on the outcome of a blood test to hopefully pin point just what is causing the execema.  In the meantime he has been put on Neocate formula for a two week trial and I have to express so that I maintain my milk supply.

I can't believe our "babies" start turning 3 next month!

Leanne yay that is so great that you have an answer about Ethan! Good luck for the grommets, I'm sure it will go well Hope things keep improving for wee Dylan too

Heather, yay that's excellent timing then! Bub-to-be must have known

I think the baby-fairy has been generous to us lonely Sep 08 mums as we are pregnant again too Still early days (about 7 1/2 weeks) but we had a scan to check on things and bubs looks perfect, in the right spot and a strong wee heart beat, so the MW says it would be very rare to lose her now. So exciting! edited to add: according to Charli-Rose, the baby is most definitely a girl and look out if DH or myself suggest otherwise hehehe

This means we are gonna try stay in chch til a few months after bubs is born as it's gonna be a bit much I think, trying to move while pregnant and starting over somewhere new. Gotta be a c-section this time too so I'll probably need a bit of support and DH wouldn't have any annual leave in time if he got a new job, so looks like we're staying put for a bit

Congratulations Amelia, I hope Charli-Rose isn't too disappointed if the baby turns out to be a boy!

Becky, your due date is getting closer, at least the bubs will be providing you with an internal heater during these winter months and convienently arriving in Spring when the weather starts warming up again!

Just thought I'd update you on the results of Dylan's blood test.  He has a low to moderate allergy to cows and horses (just as well we don't have either on our farmlet), a moderate allergy to milk and egg white and a high allergy to peanuts!  The doctor has recommended that I don't go back to breastfeeding him and he is now on the Neocate formula full time.  I'm a bit sad to give up bfeeding but have to do what is best for his health and at least he had nearly 6 months of my milk.  His face is still quite red and dry in spite of being on the formula so have been prescribed yet another cream and I think after two days it is looking slightly better.  I am hoping he grows out of the allergies as its going to be very hard as he gets older, I've already started him on solids although just fruit and veges at this stage but he turns 6 months next week so the range of food I'm supposed to give him is going to start increasing over the next few months.  Ethan doesn't have any allergies that I know of so this is all new for me.  There was mention of me seeing a dietician at one stage so I think I'll follow that up next time I'm at the hospital as I'm unsure if I will be able to give him foods that are baked or processed made with dairy products or if he needs to avoid everything.  I hoping its the first option as when I was dairy free for two weeks it was very hard and I accidently ate foods with dairy in them a couple of times in spite of my best efforts.  I ate muesli bars and fruit and nuts quite a bit which would not have helped Dylan given his peanut allergy, if only I had known!

Heather!!! Amelia!!! I'm so, so, so, so stoked for you :-) And Becky, wow not long at all until your two wee ones arrive, how exciting!

Kaitlyn's running around now and telling everyone what to do when (and if!) big sister allows. Great fun! Bethany discovered that the best way to get lots of attention once Kaitlyn took her first steps, was by taking herself to the toilet without any help... yay! Been a challenging couple of months as far as bugs go, we seem to be passing bugs around constantly. I think we've had one full week of no-one sick since May. Ah well, them's the breaks. Oh, and both my girls are currently gluten free, as I was concerned with the frequency and duration of sore tummies with Bethany. Since then, her #2s haven't been difficult for her at all, phew. Kaitlyn still struggles with food like banana, so I haven't dared introduce gluten yet.

Leanne, sounds like a rollercoaster ride with Dylan :S Interesting with Ethan and grommets - hopefully you'll notice a huge change!

Love to all xx

OMG so sorry for not popping in here for ages - just saw on another thread Amelia is expecting again and realise i have a lot of catching up to do!

As you can see (or know) I had baby Isla in April. Was not an easy pregnancy and i ended up with obstretic cholestasis (basically liver failure in pregnancy) and Isla was induced at 36 weeks and then ended up in emergency c-section.

Since then she has had problems feeding and has reflux and quite a weight loss - we are pulling through it now and she is starting to chub out a bit.

Went to a big latch on event this morning and she supped away nicely!

hoping you will all let me still play in this thread - sorry for being neglectful

ETA - i was susieec but changed my name to make it less obvious to stalkers in real life who i am

Aw both your girls look gorgeous :-) Glad things seem to be smoothing out with Isla, sounds like you've had a really rough time of it.

Bethany has had 40+degree temps since Sunday, been to a&e 3x this week and it's a mystery but we're still struggling to keep it under control. Day and night she's been miserable & hardly known what to do with herself, just doesn't seem fair. Kaitlyn seems fine (bouncing off the walls and loving not being thwarted by her big sis for a change lol!) so we're praying she stays that way! Hoping we might get some sleep tonight as it's been a looooong week.

ETA - hope all those mummies with bumps are keeping well and enjoying their internal heaters this winter!! x

nice to hear from you susie! (is it better to call you catisla?) I knew it was you, just from Catrionas name. I think I won't forget anyone from our due sep group as it was so exciting hearing from everyone through their pregnancy, the birth and those first years with bubs

congrats on the birth of Isla! she looks gorgeous in that little photo, both girls do. sounds like you've had a rough few months with the feeding and reflux, so glad to hear things are getting easier now. Hey I heard the record was broken with the big latch on? well done!

kristy eek hope wee bethany is well again soon! it's so scary when they have such high temps, good on you for taking her in. winter bugs can be so evil sometimes.

lea, wow that is a LOT of allergies, poor wee thing. I've never had to deal with them so have no advice, but hope you're hanging in there with the changes ok. bet you're glad you got the tests done! hopefully he will be a changed boy before you know it

Congratulations Susie on Isla's arrival, sorry to hear she had a rough start and the ongoing reflux, did Catriona have reflux too?

Kristy, hope Bethany is feeling better now, that must have been very scary for you.

Ethan's operation is this Thursday!  Its come around fast, I'm going to be the one to take him to the hospital while my hubby stays at home with Dylan.  I'm expecting he will be a bit sore for a few days but it will be worth it, can't wait to hear him start to speak more clearer.  He's not only getting grommits put in but is also getting his adenoids taken out.

Dylan's excema seems to be more or less under control at the moment although it stil flares up now and again.  Hes just started sleeping through the night so it can't be quite so itchy any more!  If only Ethan would stay in his bed all night!  Anyone else have a frequent visitor in the night.  In fact its not just in the middle of the night, lately he keeps appearing in the lounge after being put to bed.  I thought it might have been due to him napping too long or too late but that theory went out the window today. He only had a short nap between 1.30 - 2.30 (sometimes he sleeps 2 hours or more as late as 4) and still played up at bedtime!   He still needs a nap as on Saturday my DH's parents came to visit so he didn't have a nap, about 4.30 pm he suddenly lay down on the floor and went to sleep!  We have a safety gate that is across Dylan's door (as Ethan used to go in and wake him up from his naps) but the couple of times we have put it on Ethan's door at nighttime, he has stood at the door and howled so loudly that it woke Dylan up!

Hope the op goes well today Leah x

Catriona slept in till 9.45 this morning! And DH slept through his alarm as he is unwell too. So had a good lie in this morning. DH and Isla still in bed together now, so i am getting some real peace and quiet.

Catriona didn't have reflux - think Isla's problems stem from being forced out four weeks early!

Saw the funniest thing yesterday - I was coming out of a shop when this man suddenly rushed past me almost knocking me over, and started shouting 'Hey! Stop! Stop!' after these two women who had just left the shop. So i thought i was about to see someone done for shoplifting, but turns out one of the women had picked up this man's daughter and walked off with her. She had the same top and same dark hair as the daughter of the other woman and the friend hadn't realised that she had picked up the wrong kid. This man was going 'that's my daughter! that's my daughter!' and this women looked down at her friend and saw she already had her own daughter with her. Ha ha - she looked well embarrassed. makes you realise how easy it could be for someone to walk off with your kids though, so scary in a way too.

oh my goodness!! What a crack up Susie!

Hope today is going well for you all Leanne.

Amelia I have been waiting for you to add your ticker! Congrats! How are you finding pregnancy second time around?

Hope Bethany is feeling better and that whatever it was didn't get passed on.

Well we had a pretty uneventful 3rd birthday on Monday. Beau is at work so we had a family lunch before he went back to work but still had most of the family pop round to say Happy Birthday to the little man. He was rather happy he got two birthdays

Belated Happy Birthday wishes Alex!

Ethan's operation went really well, it was very quick (1/2 hour) and within about half an hour of waking (after he'd had an iceblock, jelly and icecream of course) he was singing and running around.  We were home by lunchtime.  He did have quite a big nap this afternoon but was still in good spirits when he woke, was looking a bit tired by teatime though.  He is obviously hearing a lot better, a couple of times when Dylan was being grizzly, Ethan covered his ears like the sound was just too loud!

Ethan is showing a lot of interest lately in using the toilet so in a few days time (once he is fully recovered from his operation) I am going to give TT another go!
