    Posted: 05 September 2008 at 1:04am
I keep waking up really REALLY hungry in the middle of the night. I'm just wanting some suggestions of what to eat really ... I hate making toast coz by the time it's ready and I put something on it I'm wide awake .. so need something that's a bit less effort

You know when you're so sleepy you wish you could ignore the hunger pangs but you're soooo hungry it hurts?

OK, maybe I'm a weirdo ....

I hear ya!! I am up stuffing my face at the moment. I'm having granny smith apples with cheese on them. Yum!

I also keep some yoghurts and muslie bars on hand... maybe they'd be quick enough not to wake you properly? Try to find something sugar-free so you don't have to brush your teeth....

If I wasn't so lazy I would make a nice smoothy to put in the fridge. I could get up and take it back to bed. I used to have apples but they are so loud in the middle of the night. (eating them is loud, the apples are generally quiet when sitting on my bedside table waiting to be eaten)

a box of crackers beside the bed is good. you dont wake up too much and it only takes off the hunger pangs. if you get up and eat a smootihe or something like that you are taking in more energy than you need. try find something little that will let you get back to sleep without ending up wide awke trying to get it ready if that makes sense

I used to keep cereal by the bed and just eat a mouthful and go back to sleep. Can't have been good for my teeth, but neither was all the puking... oh happy days.....

I used to eat dried apricots. You only need to eat a few to take the hunger pains away and Im way to lazy to get up and get something

muesli bars in/on the bedside cabinet- its a lifesaver! wuick to prepare (oooo open the packet!) and eat but theyre relatively filling. And not too heavy that you stay awake for ages digesting them! I really like this type called "Snack Logs"...theyre carob (whateva that is!) with a bit of chocolate and apricots. They're more filling than the other that I've tried.

Aw I loved the hungry-all-the-time bit of pregnancy!

I get up and put a mug of milk with a spoonful of honey in the microwave for a minute, and sip on that back in bed. Milk always cures my hunger pains temporarily and warm milk makes me sleepy so I fall asleep before I get hungry again! Works for me

Thanks ladies! Mmmm, I really could go a snack log right now ... I love those. Sadly can't get them here, but I think I will try the warm milk and honey suggestion ... milk makes me sleepy too and I can drink it in bed without waking DH

A packet of plain biscuits (like superwines) on your bedside table. I would usually have to get up and go to the loo too so after munching the biscuits, would make a loo stop and then while in the bathroom swirl a mouthful of water round my mouth to rinse my teeth before going back to bed.

I usually can get by with just a drink of milk (cold, cause I'm lazy and cause the microwave has a light in it ). If I was hungrier than that I would eat a banana.

Lol Chickoin about your noisy apples during the night!

I haven't had this either (though dh has to get me a yoghurt and glass of juice as soon as I wake up ) but yeah I'd probably go for muesli bars/plain biscuits/rice crackers too. Bananas might be good too, they're pretty good at getting rid of hunger for me.

I lived on bananas and muesli bars. I'm back onto muesli bars now - after the 4am feed, I get really hungry!

Hmm .. interesting fact Nefertiti! LOL. Not sure whether I'm game to try it though

Woke up starving again early hours of this morning .. tried the milk idea ... worked for about 5 minutes and then I was starving again LOL. Maybe I need to take a huge bottle of nesquik to bed or something .. but I hate milk that's not straight out of the fridge (unless it's meant to be hot)

I haven't woken up hungry yet but i find that just before bed time around 9:30 - 10pm i start to get hungry so depending on what i am feeling like i usually have either a glass of milk or hot milky milo with plain biscuits or a glass of complain with a banana seems to do the trick for me.
