Not sure thatthis is the right forum for this query, but I couldn't think where else to ask!
I am due in Feb with our first baby. However we are buying a new vehicle in the next month or so. It has to be a double cab ute, around four or five years old. We are looking at Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi Triton, Toyota Hilux etc.
However I have seen a couple in car yards, and the back seat and door look pretty small to me! Does anyone have any experience of using these types of vehicles for babies/carseats etc? Is the size a problem? Are there any makes which are better than others? I would hate to buy a new vehicle and then find it is impractical!
I would love to hear from anyone who has used one of these, just for a real world opinion, rather than a car dealer's spiel!

Hi kandk,
I don't have one of these, we are going to be getting a stationwagon soon. You could check with Plunket or a Safetogo person as they install carseats so they may also be very helpful.
PS - good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. My baby was born in Feb - good month

Hi kanadk, my BIL and SIL had a Nissan Navara and they found it fantastic, had no problems with having both a booster and a capsule in the back or getting the kids in and out, I know they'd recommend it. I can't speak to the others but anyway the Navara certainly worked for them.
(The only reason they don't have it any more it cos it was a company vehicle and my BIL changed jobs.)
I've sat in the back of a Triton before and there seemed to be plenty of room to me.

Thanks weegee. Do you happen to know what year their Navara was? (if it was a recent company car it may have been a 2007, and I think they are bigger?)

hmmm - it was brand new when he started his job, and I'm fairly sure that was in 2006, so it would have been either a 2005 or 2006.
ETA: just asked DH and we worked out that BIL started that job in 2005, so it would have been a 2005.
