    Posted: 25 September 2008 at 1:39pm
My mum wants to buy us a pram for bubs, but we're a little stuck on the choosing of one! DH is adamant we'll be getting a 4 wheeled one, which is cool, I like them better anyway. He's afraid a toddler of his would rock around and tip over a 3 wheeled one too easily (manly pride here!). I like ones with reversible handles so a newborn can face you.

We have looked at the Steelcraft Orbit in BabyCity - seems to be ok, although I can't remember if all 4 wheels were moveable (ie not fixed, whatever the word is). I think they were, but the websites say only 2 are? Oh well. Any thoughts? Or any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Hi Cathrine.  Check out this site for recommendations http://strollersandprams.com/ You can search by certain specifications (such as 4 wheel, reversible handle etc).

We have the Bertini X2. First we had the bassinet top which also served us as bed when having dinner at friends' places or even going to the mumbs and bubs session at the movies. From about 5 months we moved her into the gliding seat which can be put on forward or backward facing. I just recently turned her forward facing because she was getting tired of looking at me and wanted to see whats going on in the world.
I'm very happy with the Bertini, especially all extras it comes with, like sleep sack (very warm and cuddly), bumper bar and storm cover.

We have a 4 wheeler with a reversible seat and I love it    I don't think its one you can get in NZ but the design is very similar to the one you mentioned looking at in Baby city. Only the front 2 wheel swivel which I find gives you way more control than having all 4 wheel swivel (most prams have fixed back wheels).

I know its not really the same thing, but over here all the shopping trolleys have 4 swivel wheels (as opposed to NZ where the back 2 wheels are fixed) and they are soooo much harder to handle!

We have the bugaboo cameleon (sp?) which is a 4-wheeler and also the handle is reversable. It comes with a bassinet for the early days and the stroller attachment has 3 angle settings so baby can either sit very upright, lie right back or in between the two.

Also you can buy the maxi-cosi car seat which is compatible with the bugaboo frame. This is just fantastic as you don't need to move baby when you get out of the car.

It has everything you need in a stoller, and it comes in heaps of fun colours which you can change when you get bored.

I have a Bugaboo Frog (no longer available but similar to a Cameleon) and I love it. We bought it when pregnant with our first and living in London. We're now expecting baby no.3 and it's still going strong! If I was starting from scratch I'd still buy this buggy - it was one of our best baby investments
