I know I'm coming into this topic a bit late, but they suspected I had endo, but were going to get me to wait the standard 12 cycles before they did anything invasive... never got that far though as you can see ! What you described sounds pretty similar to what I used to go through too Simonne...

Thanks Jax
It's really reassuring, helpful, and good, to get input from all of you ...especially so since some of you have suffered worse/ or have experienced similar cycles and are very preggers

not wanting to hi-jack the thread but am wondering if this could be my prob.. have wondered for many many years, but now things are becomming worse and worse.
pre-babies, i have always had horrendous periods, at least 9 days or more, cramps so bad i would struggle to get out of bed some days, headaches, nausea, all of what has been described by others. am pretty sure that is why i was glad to become preggers.. for the most part that stopped, and i was overjoyed to be free of periods for that time.
Then, when paris was 5 months old, periods returned. still just as long, and with all of the above. only now i would get major abdominal cramps stabbing pains randomly all over my tummy, (like when you have food poisoning - they investigated me for gallstones but found nothing) and I would have areas where i could feel a painful fullness, like something wasn't quite right. Most nights when i had my period i would wake up shivering, cold, shaking uncontrollably, nauseated and in a heap of pain. I would get the upset tummy, diarhoea, and all of that area "downthere"and even the inner top parts of my legs would be a cold numb hurting feeling. I hated it!!! sometimes, if it was really bad, it would just come on suddenly in the middle of the day as well. It had only just begun to be less frequent when paris was about 1 year old, and i then became pregnant with Ayja.
now, i thought YAY, when this time perios returned and weren't too bad, and well they took alot longer to start up again anyway. but now, after 2 regular cycles, it has all started up again. last night i woke with the shaking, and numbness is worse than ever today.
probably all a load of too much info.. but it is seriously affecting me. i mean i used to be a bit natsy when i had my period, but now, i am nasty a few weeks leading up to it cos i get constant mildish pains(by my standards) but during AF I am pretty much an insane scary lady - and i know it but cannot control it cos i feel so horrible.
does this sound like Endo? Am probably a bit scared to actually go to doc and find out. I mean for me, i am not trying to conceive - it's more about actually getting through the day and being up to looking after the kids without snapping every 2 seconds or being completely unreasonable.

Four words for you lady (Janine)...
GET IT CHECKED OUT ! For me even initially having it investigated wasn't just about babies, it was really starting to affect my *whole* life.

Well ....it sounds like something Janine ...I'm with Jax. Off to the doctor you should go! You must be spending your 'feeling good' time terrified about the 'feeling like death (barely) warmed up times'.
I know when I finally went to my doctor about a particular symptom I was having (dreadful pain that would just come from nowhere and drop me where I stood!), she acted really, really fast and ran a battery of tests, including ordering me off to an internal and external ultrasound quick smart. It's such a reassuring feeling too for someone to go "That is not right. We have to find out what is causing this problem."
As for hijaking the thread ...don't be a dumbarse I'm glad that me raising it has given you the chance to talk! That's what this is all about ...knowing we're not alone, and getting some gal-support!
I really, really hope you get things looked into, and that you get some relief/answers!

janine that sounds horriffic!!! get to the docs quick smart young lady!!!!!!!!!!
if it is endo, it can be removed by a simple operation which is keyhole surgery so no biggie.
you poor thing having to suffer so much, no wonder you are a insane scary lady!
please, please get to the docs soon so they can help you

Yer im with everyone else get to a dr and make sure u explain EVERYTHING!!! Having Endo isnt that scary just as long as you deal with it and know what it is all about, if your dr reckons u could have it they may refer you to a specialist who will then probably want to do a lap which is nothing! Just remember that if this is getting worse and you eventually want another baby it could affect that, i had endo just starting on my ovaries and that scared the crap outta me.

OMG - i can't believe that you girls go through that These pains and symptoms just sound terrible and make me cringe just reading them. I must be really soft.
Janine - get thee to a DR!! You should just print off your post and take that to them - I know I always forget something when I am in the DRs and you describe everything really well in there.

*LOL* You shoulda seen me on Saturday then Leish! I had a dreadful day-before-AF headache/migrane, and spent the entire day sleeping and vomiting and only got out of bed to go to the hospital to see SIL (in labour) and then my niece! The trick was trying to get into the maternity ward without chucking where a nurse might see/hear me, (and, of course, not chucking long enough to actually get down the corridor!) as they had signs everywhere that if you had certain symptoms (eg VOMITING!) you weren't allowed in I knew it was AF, but they mightn't have believed me It's actually quite funny in retrospect, but at the time it was a bit rough!

Definitely don't tell hubby!
I also think the whole AF thing confirms that the feminists have it wrong too ...

I know this is really late input, but I thought you may be interested in knowing that I have been seeing a Naturopath for a couple of months, and he says that pain of any kind is not 'normal' with periods. Us girls have just come to accept it as the 'norm', but if your body is completely balanced you should not experience pain, clotting, etc. I was dubious, but after just one month on some natural supplements that he prescribed I no longer experience ANY period pain, clotting, heavy bleeding, etc. I now have a pain free, light short period, bliss! Now I am just waiting to get pregnant!

A combination of Bayberry, CLT-X, S.P.P.C, Magcal Plus and Chaste-tree fruit capsules. I think most of them are available from health food shops, although some have 'for practitioner dispensing only' written on them. Probably best to get a naturopath to prescribe the correct dosage and combination for you.
I'm completely serious - it has worked a treat! My naturopath ended up specialising in fertility by accident as his main thing was working to get people 'balanced'. For example, working with women with irregular cycles or painful periods, etc. Fertility ended up being a 'side effect' of being balanced.

Go figure!! That's fantastic that it's worked though ...you must feel like a new person when AF rolls around! It sounds much more pleasant than curled up clutching a wheat sack whilst having your head jammed down the toilet, revisiting whatever you ate in the last month!!
