Hi, I have had 2 mc's in the last 6 months, both times I have lost them around 6 weeks. I seem to find out I am preggers and then about a week later they are gone. Specialist has done all the tests & everything appears normal. I am about to start the 2 weeks wait after ovualation this week & was wondering if anyone has any advice? I am doing everything all the books tell me about eating well, not drinking, avoiding too much coffee, taking vitamins etc.

Short of staying in bed for 2 weeks to let it implant properley I don't know what else to do!? Should I avoid too much exercise?

I know it maybe just mother nature but any advice would be great, as this is my first haven't really got anyone to ask!

Thanku

Hi dotty, so sorry for your losses. I understand completely. My first MC was in Jan this year at 10 wks. I bleed for 3 wks then was put in hospital and given medication to try and bleed all the left over tissue out. In May I still was testing +ve and still hadn't had a period, I paid to see a private specialist who did a scan and thought I might have had a molar pregnancy - luckily I didn't, but I had a lot of retained pregnancy tissue. (I had to go private as both my midwife and GP kept telling me to just wait, your periods may take a year to return to normal!!) Anyway, the specialist did D&C and I concieved again the month after. Day 34 after period I miscarried, didn't even know I was pregnant till the mc. Then another possibly mc in Aug - but not confirmed by blood test. I do not have regular cycles, ie 28 days between and period for 7 days, then 34 days between and period for 3 days! So I cant work out when I ovulate. thislast month I was sure I was preg - I've never had period symptoms before, so when I got tingly nipples, achy ovary etc I thought - bingo preg. It had been 36 days since last period which is the longest Ihave ever been - did blood test, -ve and period arrived yesterday! Gutted! Anyway, the specialists I am seeing (privately) has done all the blood tests and everything is normal. My hubby even did sperm test and normal. From tonight (day 2 of period) I am starting on 50mg of clomid and take 1 tab for the next 5 days. Next thur I have blood tests and scan and see if I am ready to ovulate and if the little follicals are there. So I am excited that I kinda feel I am heading in the right direction. But this last year has been such an emotional rollarcoaster and there have been sooo many tears. Like you I and my hubby dont have family around, only my Mum who is very ill so we havent mentioned anything. I have friends who have had no problem having kids, or friends that have never tried, so noone knows what we are going through. I am sick of being told - stop thinking about it, it will happen wen the time is right, do this, do that...etc I know it is all said with the best of intentions, but at the end of the day your baby is lost and it hurts. also everyone else seems to be ringing me to say they are preg!! My brother just had his first so any family functions now all revolves around their baby - no thought for us!! Hence we havent told people we are still trying and seeing fertility specialists. I also exercise - alot! Endurance sport. I wondered if this had anything to do with mc/not concieving, but spec said no. Once I get a +ve (if) then I plan to stop - as dont want any more mc. At least now I am on clomid I will be tested early to see if preg, because the last couple of mc I didnt even know I was preg. I am taking folic acid and baby asprin 100mg which the specialist said wouldn't hurt to take. Dont really drink but do have a bit of cafine which I am trying to stop! Sorry for the long post and even though I cant give any advice on what works - just wanted to let you know that I have been through similiar and any questions I will answer what I can. Likewise if you have any luck let me know. Are you seeing a specialist? Have they talked about clomid to you? I'll let you know how it goes. Best wishes for both of us!

Hi Dotty

So sorry to hear about your loss.

Have you had your progesterone levels checked? I know that low levels is a common cause of early miscarriage. A high dose of B6 - around 200mg can often sort this out. Otherwise progesterone can be supplemented by your doctor...

Hi Dotty, have you tried a Natural Fertility clinic? Naturopaths who specialise in fertility look for things modern medicine doesn't and takes into account results that modern medicine often over looks as being insignificant. I can't recommend highly enough trying this rout can be. If you live in Auckland I can give you a good number to contact. PM me if your interested.

Didnt read anyones advice as I am suppose to be studying (and so dont wanna).

I had early mc's round and about 6 to 8 week mark. I find out I am pregnant and about a week later I just start bleeding.

I did have bleeding with McKayla as well but we went to the dr as soon as we could and it was a twin that we lost but the bleeding was away from McKayla that had a heartbeat at 5 weeks already so was put on progesterone.

What I think did help (even if it was just in my mind) was folic acid, zinc and primrose oil.

Another thing that helped was to join the lamsupport group. Google it. The girls are fantastic and able to help you with their experiences and what they have learned ect. I couldnt have done it without them.

Dont do excessive excersize but at the same time dont not do any. And I second the progesterone check as soon as you get pregnant. That is the only reason I have McKayla which is perfect in every way.

And if you bleed go in immediately and let them do bloodwork to see what hormones are doing. Dont wait and think it is just another mc.

I've also had several mc and think Vitex helped this one stick (so far!), and also B6 is meant to be very good. I've also rested excessively and done no BD after my BFP and no lifting, sleeping lots, folic acid etc.

Might just be an old wives tale to rest u but I don't care. It's helped me and even if it is just pyschological then that's fine

Oh and *totally* agree if you get any cramping or spotting etc...get yourself seen immediately. Doesn't ness mean you are gonna mc.

Good luck!

Hi Ladies, thanks for all the advice and life experiences! it really helps me learn a wee bit more. I am under a good specialist, had all the tests for blood clotting, progesterone etc everything is normal. Am being monitored on my ovulation at present so I know when in my cycle it occurs. Also been seeing a Naturopath (thanks tracey!) for the last six weeks or so and doing everything she has advised.

I know it is probs just life and next time I should just ignore it and hopefully it will stick, but I know I won't as I can't risk another one. I know it is an old wives tale but I am even not going to ride my horse as soon as I know either, I just don't want to tempt fate!

Bree - I know what you mean about people saying "relax , it will happen when its meant to" I know they are only being nice but they are the ones it hasn't happened to!

Hi all - good to read all the advice and what has worked for other people. I am on my last day of clomid now, still taking folic acid and baby asprin - all my blood work and tests came back fine but my specialist has suggest the above as it wont cause any harm. So now I have to wait until Thur when I have blood tests and poss scan to see if I am ovulating and when. Just fingers crossed I am as have read some people even on clomid dont ovulate. It is such an emotional rollarcoaster - today I went to a baby shower - my girfriend didn't even want a baby (although is use to the idea now and will be a good mum) - but just soo not fair when us ladies are trying and trying.....Years ago we use to stress doing a HPT that we would get two lines, now I pray for two lines!! Keep me posted on how you all go and I will let you knnow how things go on Thursday. Bree

Hi Guys, Had ovulation test over the last week, I apparently ovulated on Saturday according to specialist. Have been getting a few funny pains like a pinching pain, not a cramp, about 3 or so inches below belly button starting today. Hope specialist got it right and I did ovualate on saturday, as hubby is a bit worn out at present!!

Fingers crossed the pain could be something else, but have learned not to get hopes up these days!
