Topic: lunch stuff Posted: 15 April 2006 at 12:31pm |
am unsure what to give toby who is now 9 months old for lunch, i cant remember what i used to give gabriel.
anyway for lunch today he had hummus and tuna mixed up and i was very surprised that he ate it. normally it is a joghurt.
any one got any ideas that would be good for all 3 of us, the 2 yr old is getting fussy and bored with sandwiches.

Omlettes, pasta, anything really. Ask your local plunket for a leaflet with meal ideas, they are really handy

Can he have baked beans? I can't remember either. But Maya loves baked beans and they are so healthy.
Otherwise we sometimes have cheese on toast (with tomato if gabriel likes it)cut into fingers, boiled eggs with soldiers, fish fingers or chicken nuggets with chopped up cucumber and tomato, or sandwiches made from different bread, like wraps, or we walk to the bakery and buy a $1 french stick and make that into little rolls.

Maya loves rice crackers or celery or raw carrot dipped in hummus.

I just give her the pot of hummus and the packet of rice crackers or some carrot sticks and let her get on with it. She usually eats a whole pot of hummus...

I brought (or make if you can be bothered) those little piklets, Kobe loves them. Also at that age I was making crumpets with cheese and ham on them, just grilled till the cheese melts and cut into triangles. cheese slices he loved too.

Your so lucky, Ryan and Katelyn are 9 months on Thursday and i can't get them to eat anything that is lumpy they will only eat the pureed food anything with lumps they just spit it our or gag onit.
The plunket nurse told me to give them finger food but they not to fussed on that either i don't know what i can do next. I think i'm just gona have to keep feeding them pureed food until they want to eat lumpy foods its so anoying because there diet is so limited.

It does take a while for them to work through the gagging reflex sometimes... they'll get it when they are rady but make sure you keep offering lumps too as a way to push them. (ahhh forgot you had blair too... hrmmm... ah well... moral support then! good luck!)

Kobe was terrible with solids until he was over 1yr and I mean really bad. He would gag and throw up everything even with something little or the lumpy baby food. We had him checked out to make sure it was nothing to do with is cleft or his tonsils (he has a split punching bag thingee, not sure what its called) but apparently it take some babies a while to get used to the lumpy textured mixed with runny texture like some baby food is so we just flagged that as he thought he could swallow it straight away and would gag. He was on mainly pureed food until he was about 1, we started calling it soup so he didnt seem like such a baby.
