Topic: Nosebleeds Posted: 19 October 2008 at 8:44am |
Is it common and normal to have lots of nosebleeds during pregnancy?
I've never really got them much before, but at the moment they're almost daily.

My gums bled alot in the first trimester. Some people do get nosebleeds due to the increase blood flow.
This is quite interesting...

Yup, I got them a lot. Some of them were really heavy too.
As Dana said, it is quite normal and is because your blood volume increases from around 20 weeks.
ETA: My midwife advised me to make sure I was eating lots of iron rich foods and drinking lots of water when it was happening often.

I read it's really normal.
Every time I blow my nose (and I do it really carefully) I have a little bit of a bleed. This is been going on for weeks.
Unfortunately I have to blow my nose quite a lot as I've become really sniffy. Looking forward for it to finish.

Yeah I had tons with Spencer, non this time though. Could be quite embarrasing cos sometimes I wasn't doing anything when they happened, like the monday morning meeting at work where my nose just starting pouring with blood...hehehe, that freaked a few people out.

I got them most days when I was preg with Lachlan, and i have had a couple so far with this preg, I am hoping that I am not going to have many this time. Mine used to start in the middle of teaching teenage girls - not ideal!!

In the first 3 months I suffer from what feels like hayfever, drives me crazy especially when you cant take anything. Thank goodness it clears up though.
No nose bleeds though, just real stuffy!

I haven't nose bleeds yet but feel really stuff up in the morning and constantly blowing my nose throughout the day.
Did read somewhere that its all a normal part of pregnancy as are nosebleeds.
Normal sure is a strange thing when your pregnant!

hahahaha!! Yes, normal is a strange thing when you're pregnant.
I was trying to decide today if I preferred the all-day sickness of the first trimester, or the heartburn and nosebleeds of this one!! *lol*

Oooh Rachel - mine started like that - I had that for about a week or 10 days, before the actual dripping started.
Now I get a full on nosebleed, dripping everywhere at least once a day. Bleurgh!

Goodness Spirals - sounds like it justs gets better and better - mine has been like Rachel25's forthe last few days - I can't stand the sight of blood so hope it doesn't get any worse.
Does anyone know why it happens - I thought it might have been something to do with MS and being sick until I read this thread???

I've just been getting a little blood on my tissue when blowing my nose occasionally, but my gums often bleed when I'm brushing my teeth.
