Topic: Fundal Height and others Posted: 21 April 2006 at 7:48am |
Hey ladies
I dont know if i am being a paranoid first mum and the Dr or midwife didnt say anything but here goes:
Yesterday i had an appt for the pain that i had experienced was told it could be one of three things:
1 - Kidney Crystals/Stones
2 - Adhesions from abdomen surgeries
3 - Round ligament tendonitis
I have to have a kidney scan done and am waiting the appt also gonna see if they can sneak a peek at ella and her bits again hehe but my problem is a couple of things:
1 - I did a pee test and everytime i do one lately it comes back with traces of protein in it and i have had a couple of times with high blood pressure, should i worry or is it ok?
2 - When they measured my fundal height im currently 28 weeks but my fundal height was only measuring 25 weeks, should i be concerned or does that mean that ella will just be small? I cant stop worrying and it didnt help that the dr said nothing just seemed surprised i was measuring 3 weeks behind.
Sorry for the rantish post but i am worried and it doesnt help when you dream about it lol
Thanks

Sorry Jess, no specific advice, but I think you should prob ring your midwife or someone and have a chat just to put your mind at rest.

well not sure if its at all related to your case but I had and have high blood pressure with both pregnancies and they werent worried about it. I had one pee stick test that came back with protein and they related that to gestational diabetes and have been checking this time round too but so far nothing. The thing is both times the fundal heights have been spot on but with Kobe he was huge but because the fundal height was normal they didnt pick that up (even though I looked huge) and this time round the fundal height is normal maybe a little bigger but the last scan they told me she was small. Sorry rambling here but basically Im not sure how much you can trust the fundal thing really but when you have the scan they will be able to check her size and make sure she is growing, i think if the doctor was really worried he would have sent you off for a scan specifically for that but let us know how you get on.

I called my midwife coz i was really worried and she said its ok basically will keep an eye on it she said if i was 4 weeks then she would have sent me straight back to the dr to get checked out, she said ella lying sideways is what most likely caused it coz im wider at the moment lol In terms of the protein i hope its not related to GD coz im still waiting those results and i have a family history of diabetes and i have PCOS which can turn into diabetes, lol im a mess But otherwise ella is punching me and being active so im guessing shes ok!
Thanks to all the ladies who have helped me here

Protein in the urine can be a PCOS thing. I always have protein pregnant or not because of a bladder condition I have, but my GYN thinks I may also have PCOS which could be causing it as well.
Re: the fundal height thing - I think you're right about Ella lying sideways - it makes sense that you will be longer across than up and down. Gsmum might know, her lil man was transverse right up until he was due just about.

yep i had that, Ayja stayed lying sideways up till about 32/33 weeks... when i had a growth scan cos i was only measuring 28 weeks at that stage. Scan showed she was fine, just didn't have aheap of fluid around her and she had turned head down by the time i had my scan. She was little, only 6lb 2 but was a few weeks early too so that was probably it.
