Topic: indigestion? Posted: 21 April 2006 at 2:58pm |
I get this burning feeling at the back of my throat, I think it is indigestion - and I was wondering if there is anything I can take for it - quickeeze or one of those things?

I am living on Mylanta atm. They actually taste quite nice. I'm taking the original strenth tablets. I tried Gaviscon liquid when I was preg with Maya and it was YUCKY! It made me vomit!
Mylanta is completely safe in pregnancy up to the recommended daily dose of 24 tbs per day!

I had really bad indigestion around the same time as you Frantic. Mine was in my back of all places - or that's what it felt like. A wheat pack usually helped, and I then figured out it was sweet things that were causing it.
My midwife also said Mylanta was fine to take, and suggested I check the packet re Quickeze, as she wasn't so sure. However, I think Mylanta is stronger than Quickeze.

That my dear, is heartburn ! I only get it really occasionally so haven't figured out if a particular food triggers it for me yet, but what works to make it stop is Titralac, you might be able to get that from your chemist, if not have your Dr / midwife prescribe some (and don't worry, it's safe!). Either that, or Quickeze tablets help heaps too, and they don't taste too horrible either. Good luck in finding something, let us know what you figure out.

i basically lived on mylanta and quickeze when i was preggers with jack!
it can also help to sleep with your head slightly elevated, like with an extra pillow.
it sucks, i'm really hoping i don't get it too bad this time

Could be reflux aswell, I get both reflux and indigestion whether Im pregnant or not, its just constant during pregnancy. I was told by my doctor not to use quickeze and to use mylanta, I live it so buy in bulk. Milk also helps (as does ice cream) and dont eat then lie down as this makes it worse.
