Topic: Good maternity bras for F cup Posted: 12 November 2008 at 11:24am |
Can anyone recommend a good brand of maternity bras for F cup wearers?
F cup is difficult to find on a good day but they are available online. I hear that Hotmilk is pretty but not especially supportive or long wearing.
Thanks

I got (about 5 years ago now) and grat F cup one from the Bendon store up Siverdale way and it was a Trihumph(sp??) brand one and it was the best.
HM are very good from what I have heard (I have never used them).
There are a number of others that have to use larger cup size bras so you will get plenty of advice.

JessDub - which part of the country are you in? If you are in Wellington, Kirks is the best place for maternity bras that size.
I am also an F cup, and the bras from Bendon are crap in terms of support. I am still wearing underwire bras until I have to start wearing breastfeeding bras.
But in saying that, I have brought all of my breastfeeding bras from an american site that does underwire breastfeeding bras for large cup sizes.
But in NZ, your best bet is Triumph, Berlei or Fayreform for an F cup.

I second the Triumph ones that Becks mentioned. I had two with Maya when I was an E and they were great, used them again with the gremlins coz even tho I had grown, they had stretched and were more comfy than any of the new ones I bought.
With lil miss I ordered 3 maternity bras from Blest (am now a G and they're hard to find in stores here), one was a Triumph and they other two were fancy ones but I should have just bought 3 Triumph ones coz it's the only one I actually wear.

Freya do fantastic bigger cup maternity bras if you can find them! I went up from a 12DD to a 16G when I had Kate and they were great.

You should be able to get Freya at a well-stocked Farmers store

Bumping this up.....tried looking for no wire bras today and the lingere shop in town has had to order in my size which will be F (F waaa, scary) and I have never worn non underwire bras and since my boobs are big I just don't see how these will support me.....
Does anyone have any other tricks?
Oh and I tried looking at shelf singlets but it seems the shelf parts are always so blimmin small.....grrr, I feel so frustrated...like it is not hard enough to find a good bra when not pregnant!!!!!

Nat,
I had the same concern when I first had to get a new bra. I'm size E/F and hadn't worn non underwire for years. However, I have been wearing the Elle Macpherson nursing bras - style E71-135. The maternity bras I looked at were too flimsy to support, but the nursing bras seemed to have worked. I am now week 29 and have had no problems with these.
I went to a Bendon store in Wellington and the staff there were very helpful. Admittedly I didn't know what other shop to go to, so there might be better places.
Hope this helps...

Fayreform and triumph do good supportive maternity bras, I am a G cup and they work well for me
I've also tried bendon ones and they were crap. I felt like I was bouncing all over the place with those lol

I second Emma's suggestion of Blest bras which are an online company. You can send them back and swap them if they don't fit and they're fast and easy to deal with. They have a way way bigger range than you can get here in NZ and they're cheaper too even with the NZ/Aus dollar conversion.
Also for tops etc. I recommend Bravissimo which is a UK online company. My friend got some stuff for me from there - a PJ top with a shelf bra and a gorgeous little black cocktail dress and a bikini top. The great thing is they cater for big busted women who aren't actually large all over. So you can actually get a dress/top/shirt/ etc. in a 8,10 or 12 rather than swimming in a size 18. Yes it is in pounds but their sale stuff is quite reasonable.

I have hotmilk, but not all F's are created equal though. I remember a triumph bra being really good last time but it only came in skin colour
Bendon mother love is the worst, should have kept my receipts & taken the stuff back.

Well, 8 months down the track and I can say that Triumph has been the best for me. Fayreform second best but totally wasted my money on Bendon. Bendon make pretty colours but they are crap for support. Don't know how, as a reputable brand, that they can get it so wrong.

Bendon was sooo unsupportive I looked huge and spread-out and saggy!!! Will def be investing in some bras that keep me looking perky-ish this time round! I was an E when I got preg with Jake and went to an F and now I'm a DD (yay lol) and I'm not far along enough to know how big I'm gonna get.
Good thread thanks
