Topic: Am I, or arent I? Posted: 25 November 2008 at 10:31am |
Hi Everyone
I'm 1 week overdue today. I've been having little period type cramps for all of that time. I had a serious ache in my left ovary area for about 10 days from ovulation. I've had 3 negative home preg tests. Is it still possible though? I've booked an appt with the doc tomorrow, but I'm just wondering whether anyone else has experienced this and actually turned out to be pregnant?! My partner and i have only just started trying, and my period is never late. all just seems a bit odd. Excited, but don't want to get my hopes up.

Hi Jojo, how exciting!
This actually happened to me last month, and though I turned out not to be preg, the advice I received from everyone indicated that it is indeed possible that you are!
Apparently some women don't show up positive in home pregnancy tests for ages, or ever!
If AF still doesn't show up, the best way to find out for sure is to go for a blood tets at the doc.
Good luck!

Thanks Elleroo - that soooo nice to hear!! Now I will be super excited!
Isn't it strange how we're all so different when it comes to conceiving...wish it was just black and white!
Fingers crossed
Jo

My friend was the same, she had 2 negative test before she went to the doctors and had her blood tested. Its turns out she ovulated later than she thought so when AF didn't show she was only just pregnant and it was strong enough to show on a pregnancy test if you know what I mean!
Good luck!

as a rule, don't get your hopes up, but do go to your doctor for a blood test. If your period arrives late, it just means that you get to keep trying! If you go to the doc and you get a lovely positive, you'll be glad you found out sooner rather then later - the blood test can pick up those preggy hormones within days of conceiving. good luck whatever the outcome

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much...I have my blood test tomorrow afternoon, so I'll let you all know how I get on probably on Thursday/Friday.
Thanks for all your great advice

Well, great news, it turns out I am .
All my home tests showed negative right up until yesteday (8 days overdue). I've had 2 positives since yesterday afternoon and I've just had my bloods done this morning so all will be confirmed tomorrow.
The only other symptoms I've had are a metallic taste in my mouth and feeling a little bit woozy if I stand up too quick, or first thing in the morning. No bloating/sickness/sore breasts, so everyone is different it seems! So far so good.
VERY HAPPY

Thanks guys - I'm very fortunate I know! Bloods came back today and its a definite YES. All very exciting and scary at the same time. We can't wait to meet our little cherib in August .
So my one piece of advice to those of you who are "late" but are getting negative tests is don't give up hope...eventually that little line may appear...mine took 8 days to show with very few other symptoms.
All the best to everyone TTC. I hope to chat to some of you in the Due in August thread very soon .

I got my first positive about 10 days after a bleed. It was a bit weird with the timing but hey, I wasn't going to say no lol!!
