Topic: Whats your plans for christmas day ? Posted: 01 December 2008 at 9:53am |
so those who celebrate Christmas , whats everyone doing for the day ?
Seeing as its our first christmas in our house, (and since Kelly is too lazy to go anywhere) we are having christmas here, and both parents can come to us (neh neh )
We will have ham (yes, i'll cook it right through etc etc etc ) and all the rest of it , i might even treat myself to a mocktail
Then later if any friends want to they can come over for a drinks (or mock drinks in my case) and bbq type affair
whats everyone elses plans ?

We will be in Auck at Mum and Dads. No doubt we will be up at 5.30am as ususal. My 94 yr old Nana will come over and we will open presents about 8am (or when my bro and his gf arrive).
We will go to lunch will a big mob of mums extended family, and a more formal sit around the table thing at dads brothers house for dinner.
Drink too much, eat FAR too much, and have fun! yay!!
ETA- Boxing day we off to the races! Yay!

First Christmas with a baby!
We're heading up to AKL to spend the day with my Mum, Step-Dad, Grandfather + Partner, Sister and her DP.
We'll eat WAY too much, snooze, play with Hannah's new toys while she eat the wrapping paper.
Probably go for an amble up the road and back to walk off all the food so we can fit chocolate in.
BBQ the following day for Step-Dad's (boxing day) and DH's (xmas day) birthdays.

Chritmas morning, we will probably get up realy really early, open a few presents at home and then at about 8 go over to my parents for breakfast and open all the rest of the presents.
Lunch time we will go to my grandparents for a big Chritmas lunch. We will probably have Santa arrive later in the afternoon in a ludicrous fashion (even though we have all grown up and Keira is petrified of him :P)
Hopefully the weather will be nice for once and we can hed down to the beach (which is literally 2 meteres from their backyard) And Sleep.

We are heading to my auntie's place for lunch...apparently there's going to be about 25-30 of us...so it's going to be quite loud and raucous really.
Then to DF's parents for dinner which will be low-key and we will finish the night by playing dominoes...probably Double Fifteens....so relaxed and casual. We will also open our Secret Santa presents there.
Then on Boxing Day we have speedway, so it will be full on...also means we won't drink much, if anything, on Xmas Day....

Christmas Day this year is spent with the whole Martin Family, as I have to alternate years with my family and DH's. So we are having it at DH's parents here in Chch, then on Boxing Day, heading over the hill to my parents, www.garthowen.co.nz where my brothers and their familes will be for 2 days then coming home.
To cut a long story short, both of my brothers have married 2 sisters, and one being my friend, so every year they spend it together and we are the ones that feel left out.. oh well, will be together this year.

My plan: Sleep in until 8am when I am woken by DH and Michaela who have made me breakfast in bed and already started preparing Christmas lunch. After a leisurely breakfast do some gift giving and then get ready for church. Find a carpark close to church really easily and pop in for a lovely Christmas day mass. Go back home where all lunchtime preparations have already been taken care of and the house is beautifully clean and tidy with no trace of ripped wrapping paper or discarded boxes from Michaela's new toys. Wait for out guests to arrive, and they will be on time, and exchange gifts without any raucousness then have Christmas lunch. Say goodbye to guest at 3pm and then go and have a nap.
What will probably happen: Get woken by DH at 5:30am because he's so excited about Christmas he doesn't care that Michaela's having a rare sleep-in. Go straight into lounge where DH starts handing out gifts. Skip breakfast because I'm too busy sorting out Michaela, tidying up the lounge and getting ready for church. Get down to mass early only to find there are no carparks available. Get home and my guests (who are notorious for turning up early) are already waiting. Dad then launches into handing out gifts (because like DH he is a huge child at Christmas and he probably woke his household at some ungodly hour too). Follow up with a BBQ lunch and then laze about for several hours until everyone (except my 8yo niece) heads home. Tidy up the mess that descending upon my house during this time. Sort out dinner for the girls and then try and get them to bed at a decent hour so I can collapse.
The second option is pretty close to accurate but TBH I wouldn't have it any other way.... I'm really looking forward to it.

We are having 2 christmas's
On the weekend before Christmas we are going to go up to the inlaws and my parents are invited also and do a thing with our parents and do presents and go out for lunch at a restaurant which has reminded me I need to book it!
On Christmas day though I'm 99% sure we will be in Waihi and who knows what will happen as we will be with one of my friends and his family so whatever they do lol

Christmas morning we'll be up with the sparrows, will have our family presents at home.
Drive out to Henderson to my grandparents to have food of some description.
2pm we are expected up at Orewa to the outlaws house for a late lunch. My parents and sister and her partner will come too. Do the present and eating thing and leave at approximately 4pm (can only handle two hours there) BUT we will probably stay longer *sigh*
Boxing day - Us fellas and my sister and her partner and whoever else will go to the boxing day races, we go every year and have done since DH and first met.

Not quite sure what we will do, but I think brunch will be either at mine or my grandparents with my 3 living grandparents, my parents, myself and DH (my brother isn't coming up from Christchurch), then me and DH will go to his parents for lunch with his family and then I think my parents will probably come around there in the evening.
I'm considering doing a boxing day bbq at mine for everyone but not sure that I am up for it... Xmas always seems to rain so then what would I do?!?

DH will be milking and I probably will to so more staff can have the day off. So we are having lunch here for whoever in the family wants to come Probably both sets of parents and some siblings etc) and then for tea we are having a BBQ for any staff who are around with their friends and family, any family who can stay and some friends, will be relaxed and chilled out, nothing flash! I am looking forward to it.

We have having xmas with the in laws on the 20th as that is when BIL is down (his GF is funny and expects him to be with her on xmas day and it HAS to be with her family - bit rude if you ask me), so we have to go down to Palmy too. Xmas day we will be at the in laws and still not sure if we are having lunch there or not yet.

We're going to be up early (not likely!) for presents here and then off to church with the inlaws at 9. Back to their place for presents and Christmas lunch. Around 2 (hopefully!) we will quickly stop off back home to unload presents and reload with other stuff, then heading off to my family for dinner.
Fingers crossed the kids will sleep in the car and NOT puke up all their Christmas lunch on the way to my mum's!

I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year even though it's my 4th in a row away from family
I'll probably wake DH up at some ungodly hour a) because I can't sleep in these days and b) because I am a big kid about Christmas and love the gift giving thing! We'll hopefully speak to all our family back home early and have a nice leisurely BBQ breakfast and I might even have a glass of bubbles
We're having Christmas dinner at our friends' place, they have an 8 month old boy and have invited us and a bunch of others that have to stay in Singapore for whatever reason (there's another pregnant friend coming who is due Dec 31 ). We're all bringing Christmas-y food and drinks, having a big sit down dinner together and then playing board games and Wii.
I can't wait!
