Topic: Any cool announcing being pregnant ideas? Posted: 10 December 2008 at 2:35pm |
No Im not pregnant but when i do I want to think of a cool way to tell hubby this time so its more of a surprise.. With first baby Jaxon we were both home when I did test etc so we found out together.
One idea was one I saw on tv where the mum wrote on sons nappy, Im going to be a brother then got hubby to change it..
What other ways are there??

I was trying to think of some last week, here's what I came up with
*Edit a picture of DS (even in paint) and 'write' across his t-shirt "big brother' set it up with a number of other pics that you have taken that day or recently to show DH
*Send an email from DS's hotmail account congratulating DH - maybe something like 'your application to become a Dad again has been successful
*Give him a box with a twig and 2 peas in it. (Pea on a stick)
*Ask him if he can go with you for bloods on a certain day they will be checking your iron as well as hcg and other stuff (works well for me being needle phobic)
*my DS was/is too young, but can you teach Jaxon to point to your tummy when asked 'Wheres the baby?"
*Dish up baby food for dinner
*'Do the deed' one night, say "Wow, i'm sure I'm pregnant after that, I should go test, leave the room and come back with the positive test
*Tell him it's not worth trying to get you pregnant, cos 'his boys' won't be able to meet up with the right girly bits at the moment (ie it won't work right now)
*I laminated the pregnancy test and gave it to DS when DH got home from work and told him to give it to Daddy
*I asked my Father and one of my sisters how they felt about sharing their birthday with a family member and then said well you better ask this bub to be 2 weeks early or 3 days early
* I told my mother I wanted Greenbeanz vouchers for more nappy materials (for my birthday)cos it was going to be easier having one in cloth and one in sposies and she asked if I was trying to tell her something
*Ask him how much notice he is going to need to take 2 weeks time off in y month
I'm sure the others will come up with some good ones as well

I had DH presented with the tests giftwrapped in a beautiful box... the waiter at a nice restaurant brought it out on a platter.
DH opened the box and burst into tears (and dont ever let him know I told anyone)

You could put a bun (hamburger, or similar) in the oven.
When DH gets home, ask him to check in the oven as you think there's a "funny smell" in there (or some other excuse/reason for him to open it up...)
Inevitable conversation might go something like this;
"honey, why is there a bun in the oven?"
"you're a little old for the 'birds and the bees' talk, aren't you?"

Hahahahaha I love the bun in the oven one!
I thought I might tell DH by writing a card and having a photo in it of him as a baby and saying I hope this baby is as cute as you - or something like that!
Keep the ideas coming its great!

I made a business card type thing up on the computer saying "Daddy in waiting - package due early December" and put it in a little frame, wrapped it and left it on his side of the bed. He loved it and took it to work to put on his desk, he then put the 12 week scan and then the 18 week scan in it. I now get a picture printed every month for him to update it. I also made up one for our parents and siblings and they loved it.
This time round I am getting DS a T'Shirt made with "I am going to be a big brother" and get him to wear that. I was going to get it with the month on it e.g "I am going to be a big brother in Sept" but then worked out that I will want it right away so at least I can get the T made now and can put it on him as soon as I find out rather than waiting for the T to arrive to tell DH. I am also going to get DS to wear it to tell the rest of the family and see how long it takes them to catch on

You could draw a sign that says "Im going to be a big brother" and take a photo of Jaxon with it and either give it to him on a card .. or pop it on the fridge door.
Or get Jaxon to draw a picture that shows your family with another bubba and get him to give it to your DH
Or you could send a box of helium balloons to your DHs work .. pink ones and blue ones with ? marks on them with one central balloon saying congrats.
Oh and if your DH is anything like mine ...
He will know your pregnant way before you do!

As for the bun in the oven....my DP would ask why there is a 'hamburger' in the stove! Duh lol

I was pretty boring when I told DH but when we told my parents about Jack I gave them a little gift bag each and inside was a bib that said "That's it I am going to Grandma's/Grandad's".
When we told them about this baby we arrived and Jack had a new baseball cap that had "Big Brother" stitched on it

How about putting a cute message on your belly like 'Hi Daddy I'm in here' or something equally as cheesy and getting a little frisky with your DH. Then when he goes to rip your top of in a moment of passion he gets a cute surprise.
I know this isn't quite the same because we already knew I was pregnant, but my first scan was at 12 weeks and my DH was at work. We figured they couldn't possibly tell us anything too exciting that we didn't already know so I went with my Mum instead.
Anyhoo so what happens?!?! It turns out it's twins lol! I was in total shock and couldn't stop laughing. Unfortunatly the down side was I knew my DH has just missed out on a massive moment.
So when he got home from work I told him I had a couple of photos of our future offspring (I had a scan pic of each baby) and did he want to see?
I sat him down gave him the pics and after 5min he asks "Why do they look so different?" Thats where I got to tell him it's because theres 2 babies! Man did he freak! He didn't talk to anyone for an hour haha. Good fun
