Topic: How many have changed thier minds? Posted: 03 May 2006 at 2:01pm |
While we are talking about names how many people have changed thier minds after being set on a name?
One of the girls here at work is adament that I must have a list of 10 names and it's no point relying on my favourite because it may not suit her and there's a good chance I'll change my mind.
I'm sceptical about this and have many friends who have been firm on thier names and not changed thier minds at all.
I'm curious, how many have changed thier minds after the birth?

I didn't... I had Kiya's name all picked out, started calling her that before she was born, and did not change my mind.
We had two names picked out for Josiah (one of each gender) and went with our choice after he was born.
We've got two names picked out now (one of each gender) and I don't expect we'll change our minds once Baby arrives.
We have changed our minds individually inbetween pregnancies about what names we like, however... but that's completely different!

we didnt change our minds with Kobe and I still love the name which is why Im a bit worried I havent found the right one for this baby. My friend is still a bit iffy about what she named her wee girl and I would hate that.

LOL... Yes, Roskana, we are! Nathaniel and I really love the name, and it's one we chose together. It's actually really hard for us to agree on names!

I really don't think we'd change the girls name...we feel in love with it a year ago...still love it and despite pouring through name books, NOTHING stands out at all...
We had 2 boys names though...may use those next time...assuming there is a next time!

Maya was Maya from only a few weeks after I found out she was a girl. There was no chance I would have changed my mind - I named her after my favorite poet so the meaning was/is as important as the actual name.
No idea whatsoever what the gremlins names will be yet. Not even a half-pie list. They could well just be Baby Davis A and Baby Davis B lol!

Hrmmm... I could decide at all on a girls name, but Hannah was the only one I didn't get sick of!
While I love the name Hannah, I kinda wish it had more meaning than just that fact that I didn't hate the sound of it.
I like Emma's choice for Maya. Really special as a name of someone she admirers.
Perhaps you should consider something like that when looking for names? Think about someone or something that has had a big influence on your life... be it a character from a book, an author, a family member, friend of the family, etc etc

I liked to sound of my boys names and had liked Jaidyn for b4 i was preggy but i didnt like the spelling so tried diff ways to spell it until I found what i liked. Also I like the name meanings which means alot to me. Keegan is little firey one and jaidyn in victory. And added with their middle names together the meanings are awesome. Oh and I had their names picked out b4 they were born and i knew which twin was getting which name b4 i had them.
I do love Jackson/Jack as a name but being that my last name is Russell couldnt really have it - Jack Russell the breed of dog!!!!

We chose Ellas' name out of a book and it was the only one we agreed on. DP really wanted Isobel, but I didn't really like itl!
I also like the meaning of her name too, fairy princess
Oh yeah, we named her before we found out the sex, and we had NO boys names at all!

Yep, after Maya Angelou. It's actually pronounced Maa-ya, but she gets My-a most of teh time whic doesn't bother me. I only get bugged when she gets May-a.
The problem with giving her such a meaningful name is trying to come up with two more that have as much meaning!
Marlene - how did you know which boy was which before they were born. I'd love to be able to say "the left baby is X and the right baby is Y" but I don't know how I will know which one is which when they come out?
