Topic: lightening DOES strick twice Posted: 18 January 2009 at 5:17pm |
If you remember, in august last year some idiot took my car out while i was sitting at a intersection, well we have had our new car for 5 months and last night it was parked on the road as our garage was full, and what chat fing well know, some asshole at midnight last night, took our car out...so now our new car has been towed, have to contacted the insurance company on tuesday (as monday is a public holiday here), and fingers crossed the car can be fixed and we dont ahve to go looking for a new car.
he damaged the drivers side, but hit with enough force that the moved the car up the curb into the tree trunk, took the tire off the rim.....and NO he/she didnt stop.
I really dont need this right now...

Don't forget to call the Police because not stopping after an accident is a crime and they may actually go looking for the owner of the vehicle if you (and they) suspect that it's someone local.
Sadly, if they don't front or are not found, you will probably have to pay your excess.
Try and get a repairer with a courtesy vehicle and don't be bullied by the Insurance Co. to go to one of their approved repairers (who might not have a courtesy vehicle) as they're not allowed to do that.
If you were able to find the driver of the other vehicle, your Insurance Co. may recover the costs of a rental vehicle on your behalf for the time yours is off the road.
Good Luck!

police were called straight away, our insurance doesnt cover for a courtesy car, and its okay we can get hold of a car on the odd day...so all good there...
as for the driver of the other vechicle, basically i think its "good luck" if we ever find him/her

I feel for you. That must suck. Last week while parked in a parking garage, my car was hit. Lucky, the guy reported it. The insurnace lady said that I was so lucky that he owned up to it.
