Evening all. we had our growth scan today - our little girl has my button nose I'm so chuffed!!! We didn't really get a very good 4d photo as she was using the placenta as a pillow and kept snuggling her face in it and had the cord infront of her face. But she's still cute regardless. I will have DH scan the photo so I can post the picture for you all to see her nose!!!
Scan says we are possibly 3 days ahead for size - 1890gms (4lb3oz). DH was 5lb9oz and I was 7lb4oz so I was hoping for a 7lb baby maximum. but I guess that with only 8 and a bit weeks to go - bubs might be bigger than asked for! I have put on 5-7 kgs so far (depending on the time I weigh myself).
Lots and lost of movements over the last few days - seems like forever though. And I think I had heart burn today - felt a little (girl type) burpy and had a burning sensation from my chest to the bottom of my throat. Is this heartburn? It started when I had a cup of tea at morning break time
I had a look on that Pink Kit website - it looks really good. Very much the same as the HypnoBirthing course that we have done.
What? A cafe that is NOT open on a sunday??? I'm happy with Robert Harris in Milford - I'm even happier with comfey seats Otherwise Columbus Coffee cafe on William Pickering drive in Albany is great (I had a very nice bagel with cream cheese and pesto) and closer for those coming from West. They have comfey seats (and not comfey ones), its not in a mall but I'm not sure about entertainment for the little ones.
Let me know what you guys think about where we should meet up. I'm easy
We had Thai for dinner and I ate heaps and now I have to wait for dinner to go down before lying down!!! I'm really tired so I hope 1 hour is enough .... good night everyone

I'm really torn about whether to spend time looking at things like the Pink Kit etc, and I guess were I to actually get to attempt a VBAC it would 1) be a miracle and 2) be so 'managed' that I'll likely be on a bed with all sorts of monitors tied around me anyway and an epidural...
For those suffering heartburn, and yes it is the burning sensation (which turns into reflux if it gets worse which is just plain awful - waking up with burning vom in your mouth that you have reflexively swallowed back down before realising is just yuck! TMI sorry). A small glass of milk will help with heartburn usually, if not mylanta is pretty good (but read instructions carefully - it does have a max usage per 24 hours), and if it gets really bad my cousin passed on this wonderful trick that has worked for me the last 3 nights in a row: a small (2cm square or so) cube of raw, peeled potato.

Won't be able to make coffee this weekend.. I'm down at my parents house in Pukekohe and will be here till DP home from Wellington.. I have absolutely nothing on in September so hopefully be able to make the next one.. ???
I have a small piece of advice for you too - re Baby's first poo.. I couldn't do this with DD as she was prem so nurses changed her first nappy, but apparently meconium is like tar and hard to get off. Some random chick said to me to wipe a load of Vaseline on bubs bum before it comes along and it wipes off like butter.. Just an idea.. Will try it myself this time..
Think I'm getting a cold too - boo hiss.. DD woke with a runny nose and I have one too now.. bugger.
Have a good day gals...
D..x

I have mega swollen ankles at the end of a day. I would be asking for permission to wear sneakers as they may be lenient knowing that you are pregnant. You can also but compression type stockings that are suppose to be great. Are they actually hurting you or just annoying? I think you can take dandelion tea for swelling but I would double check that as I never got that desperate.

I'm like Peanut, swollen to the max by the end of the day - I try to elevate as much as possible during the day. And I try to keep my fluids up by drinking at least two bottles of water while at work. Apparently, despite the swelling being fluid retention, drinking water helps lots.
I reckon see if you can discuss footwear with them too - if they wont play game, perhaps see if your midwife can write a letter of 'strong recommendation' in support?
eta: nice belly bump Peanut! SHE does look a little lower than DS.

Definitely lower this time Peanut. I am now fully convinced that you have a girl in there
I only work 2 days a week & spend most of the time sitting behind my desk & have hideously swollen ankles when I get home. Last week I really tried to drink more water & get up for little walks frequently. Is there any way you could elevate your legs during your lunch break?
Oh & thanks for the raw potato tip Cathy. I will try it next time as I am totally over it & I haven't found anything that really works completely.

Aww, NZCupcake, you made the list look soo much neater. Thanks!
Sally, I find often my ankles are worse if I have sat down all day..as weird as that is. Sometimes there is just nothing you can do about ugly swelling, except post pictures on here for sympathy ...and ot entertain the masses

Merely condensed all your hard work with the guesses list Peanut! Cos it will get longer again if we add a 'txt-buddy' list and then when we add the 'congrats!' list to the top!
I've also updated my ticker so that it says what page the list can last be found on (nabbed the idea off someone else in another thread) - it just relies on me being onto it enough to update my ticker now...
hmmm - I see a flaw in this plan!
Another trick I read for the swollen feet/ankles - get SO massaging the fluid back up your legs at the end of the day.

My last MW suggested liquid chlorophyll from the health shop to help with swelling, worth a go (I was crap at remembering to take it!).
Apparently you should never massage pregnant legs, feet up to ankles is fine. My aromatherapy massage tutor only did my feet. I guess it's just in case you have a deep vein clot forming.
I am finding it hard to breathe, more of a cough and DD has a nasty cough now too. Woke up million times for a sip of water, a cough and a hurumph. Guess wedding anniversary tomorrow will be a washout, really shouldn't go out and expose anyone to it

ooo, that's good to know about the feet/ankle only thing Porc! Luckily that is all DH has been doing for me - well and my bum (sciatic! ) and neck/shoulders...
Hope you get on top of that cough - nothing more annoying than waking up because of it.
Perhaps you could have a bed picnic for your anniversary instead!

A woman after my own heart, NZCupcake I saw that idea too and thought what a great idea but couldn't be arsed updating my thing at the bottom. Well done you!
Porce - sucky on feeling bad esp with your wedding anniversary tomorrow. The bed picnic is not a bad idea though.
I will speak for Sally here but me and her will betext buddy's as we already have each others numbers etc thru the Dec thread...hope that is ok, Sal?

Its a beautiful day here on North Shore - great day to be at home. I have paid some attention to my neglected garden I had 3 raspberry plants last summer which I thought had all died but are budding!! So i gave them a prune (I've never done it before but I think I did a good job) and they look much better. My 3 x strawberry plants have multiplied into 5 plants but my passionfruit is looking a bit sad with holes in the leaves..... not sure what to do about that.
There is new life all around and even in our bellys!
Rachel - I would ask about wearing sneakers too otherwise maybe ask for extra breaks throughout the day so you can put your feet up?
I have asked for a different chair at work - one that tips me forward hopefully so I can start getting this girl in the correct position Work is sending a "workstation specialist" to visit me on friday - hopefully she will understand that ergonomic workstations are different from preg workstations!
Thanks Cathy - I feel better knowing what the burning sensation is and what I can do about it if I get it again. What is a text buddy btw? Also are they going to induce you early or are they just on standby for when your girls are ready/something happens and they need to come out? I think you said another 7 weeks max to go? Will that make you max 37-38 weeks preg? I heard a story about a lady who had one twin vaginally and the other c-sect as one was the right way around and the other wasn't.

You are a good egg getting into your garden Brenda - ours is just such a mess and so depressing - and I can't get down there to weed it, so I have chosen to pretend it doesn't exist for the next few months!
text buddy is someone you can text once your bubs is born and they will come on here and let us all know the model and make of your new addition. I can have a go at partnering people up based on those at the start of the list with those at the end of the list if you all want. We'd PM mobile phone numbers to each other though - don't post them on here, cos it's a public forum.
I have no idea what will happen with my birth really. At the moment it's just keep growing them as best I can with fortnightly scans to check that they are, and that my placenta is still working (it is starting to 'get tired' apparently). 37-38 weeks is considered full term for twins I think. If all my ducks line up (ie; presenting bubs is head down (which she is not now!) and the team assigned to handle my delivery at Waikato agree, then we could attempt a VBAC, and most likely will be induced. Because it will be managed I am guessing I will have an epidural, and my m/w said if that's the case, they can turn baby 2 from breech and I can VB her too. More likely I will be booked in for an elective ceasarean based on when they are 'better off out than in'.
oooo - novel - sorry!

Make sure you PM your mobile number to your buddy too - don't post it on here because it's a public forum!
