Does anyone know of any good creams or oils that help with getting nipples ready and soothe the sore/itch at the moment?

I remember reading along time ago about it - but have since lost the article.

i dont think anything can really prepare your nipples. but you might want to check with your midwife re the itch, i dont recall mine getting itchy unless it was exczema.

ooh, i have just been to the chemist to get something for itchy nipples. It is Lansinoh - it soothes, heals and protects sore nipples. It is quite sticky but works like majic (in my case) It is alright to use when breastfeeding as well, you don't havfe to rub it off or anything. i think it is natural products. The only downside is that is costs about $13 and is a really small container. But the chemist said that that is about the only thing they knew of.

it is expensive for such a small tube, but it is excellent stuff and you don't need much

It works really well to help soothe and repair cracked nipples after Baby arrives too!

I used medela purelan - it comes in a yellow tube, is about $20 but lasts for ages. It's a 100% lanolin goo that it really thick - great for cracked lips too. My midwife recommended it and I bought it at the chemist - but it's available at Baby City too.

I had Purelan too... (stole quite a few sachets from hospital) and bought a tube from the chemist for about $13 I think (it was the smaller one)
Didn't even use 1/3 of it and it was fantastic!!!
