Topic: Weird for me - your opinions please! Posted: 27 January 2009 at 11:39am |
Something odd has happened that may not be strange for others, but is definitely out of the ordinary for me - oh and I issue a TMI warning right here!!
For the second night in a row, DH and I had 'relations' (well that is not common for us, but this is not what I'm getting at LOL)… we weren't more vigourous than we normally are or anything and we were using our 'default' position of me on top (the night before was stinky ol' missionary), so penetration wasn't particularly deep… anyways, as is the routine afterwards I tucked a towel between my legs to prevent any ickiness on the sheets (though since surgery I've notice my leakage isn't nearly as bad as it used to be). Anyhow, this morning when I got up for my shower, I notice quite a bit of brown on the towel, old blood brown, mixed with a little bit of *ahem* - I also noticed a small amount when I washed. I put a panty-liner in and tootled off into work, with a little discomfort in my abdomen but nothing that couldn't be dismissed as gas or needing to use my bowels.
However, what has led me to this post is that I've just been to the loo; there was more brown staining on the liner (probably two 20c piece sized spots, if that makes sense) and when I wiped I had a mixture of grotty brown stained sticky CM as well as more watery/egg-white CM that was tinged pink! And now as I sit at my desk I've got a little bit of very mild cramping, but more than I can pass off as gas. As I said, this sort of things has never happened to me before and I'm not sure what to make of it - I mean, I've had more rough kinds of hanky-panky than what last night was with nadda afterwards, and there wasn't anything yesterday after the antics of Sunday night… so what gives? You gals have any answers for me?? Should I be worried??? I'm only at CD10, haven't OV'd yet (though my temps are a bit higher than expected for this time of the cycel but only by a small margin) and I definitely had a full AF so can't be PG... hmmmm, this is very weird!

That sounds similar to what i experienced the other day too. Although from time to time i do get the odd brown discharge.
the other day when it happened to me i had a wee bit of pink and then brown with lots of cramping and it was pretty much when i would have been ovulating. So i assume that its the OV cramps i was feeling etc.
I would also love to know why the old blood occasionally comes out randomly.
I used to get a heap of it and quite stringy back about 6 months ago mid cycle but i put that down to coming off the depo.
Chances are Ang you have OVed slightly earlier this cycle...............i have learnt that you can ovulate a few days before or few after the "typical" day you OV, so it could well be all that esp if your temps are up higher than normal.........
I also was BDing, but i honestly doubt that had anything to do with it
Hope that helped, your not the only weird one out there..........

Thanks Chickielou - the main reason I asked is that I am a very regular girl who 97% of the time does not differ from my usual kind of cycle - as in OV between days 12-15 (never ever CD10 or before!), 29 day cycle, no mid cycle bleeding I can ever remember... that is one thing about my body I can rely on, even straight after surgery I was back to bang on usualness... and my temps aren't post-OV high, just a bit warmer than my normal pre-OV...
But yeah, I'm not going to say it's not OV spotting and we're BDing just in case so I should shut up and stop complaining!

Just taking a punt from what you've described I reckon its OV spotting.
Is the CM your getting clear or cloudy/whiteish in colour??

Hard to tell, because of the discolouration caused by the old blood... but in saying that haven't had any this afternoon, so I'm putting it down to a once-off after intercourse or OV spotting

AngieBabe, that happened to me last month - I wasn't charting at that stage, so I don't know if it was around ovulation time. I was a bit freaked out too cause it has never happened to me before but just put it down to the fact that I must have been ovulating then. Although it was CD 16 and that cycle was 35 days long so I wouldn't have thought I would be ovulating that soon in the cycle - so I have no idea.

Angie I'm thinking that your cervix is opening up getting ready to ovulate and that what's come out is the old stuff that was stirred up after your lap last month. I had random old blood brown clotty cm for the cycle following the op and was told it was just the remnants of the clear out.

Cheers ladies... I'm feeling a little more at ease about it now, knowing it's not so weird afterall... I'll trust my body and that it knows what it has to do now!

Angie I'm voting for it being leftover blood from the lap too.

I had the same sort of thing happen to me but it happened after I had exercised for the first time in a wee while..
My cycle is ALWAYS regular ie 26 days plus or minus one day and it was around ovulation so assume that it was ov spotting...but it was weird as I had never had that happen before so naturally enough I was like hmm so hope this is a weirdo good sign even though I knew it was stupid to imagine that.
BTW I have a polpy in my uterus (which acts like an IUD!!!) so it might have been that rubbing against something which caused bleeding/getting irritated or something like that - though like I say never had it before.
Ain't it weird how women have things in common but then things can be so different too! Sometimes think it would be great if we all had the same signs so we always knew what was going on hee hee!
