mother in law clean? The one where you clean everything even though it doesn't need doing just cause a visit is coming up.

bahaha mother in law clean. Love it.
I totally do that!
In fact, I find it MUCH easier to get motivated to clean when I know people are coming.

Yeah I do a MIL clean but then I don't have to do it often as they live in the Sth Island. I even place towels, facecloths etc on the bed they will be using

Nah, too lazy besides MIL knows DH isn't tidy and my mum knows I'm not the most tidy person in the world so they just expect our house to be a little messy with a toddler destroying the place straight after we have cleaned up

I do granny cleaning tho - she has caught me a few times when the house was a mess and i felt so embarrassed cos im "obviously" not looking after her grandson very well.

Every blardy day. The story of my life.
But I call it my "DH is coming home" clean.
Everything needs to be done regardless of whether it needs doing. He will even turn the washing machine on for 3 pairs of undies, just because he cant stand the sight of something being in the washing machine.

I do , but only cos we aren't married YET and I don't want her talking DF out of marrying such an untidy person .
Tho , at times , when hes really getting on my nerves , I contemplate ringing her up to come for coffee with my house an absolute sty and just say really nochalantly "meh, i dont believe in cleaning "

I wish i had a DH like that kaiz!! Mine looks at the washing machine and says "Hun you need to do some washing" or he does the "I have no clothes for work, can you do some washing like NOW" ... Hmmmm
But back on topic, my MIL is OCD, everything is spotless and she cleans when she has guests around (eg still at the table eating dinner)... I have been caught out a few times and now i just say to her " if you come around and its not to your standard you know where the cleaning stuff is" - one day i came home and DH had let her in and he went out... my house was so clean i thought i was in a show home or something!! Minor upside of living in the same town as the MIL...
My dad comes up from palmy (we in hamilton) and he does my housework... think they might be trying to tell me something...

Yeah.. its not really that great at all.
The one thing in the house that I can have messy is my purse. Thats the only thing I have compromised with him. The other night he just couldnt help himself and decided to bring it into the lounge with a plastic bag, and rummage through it. "Do you need this receipt?" "What about this hairtye, could you please put that in with your other hairtyes". This tissue should be in the rubbish Kylie.
 my purse. MY PURSE!!! Jeepers.

lol kaiz231 - i shouldn't laugh really cause that must be really frustrating for you - but couldn't be further from my DH!! I have to remind him just to take his plate to the kitchen after dinner
Definately do the MIL clean though - he always laughs at me cause i won't clean for my mum... but when i was a kid and mums parents were coming over, we always had our rooms inspected to make sure they were "grandpa tidy" it was a whole different level to normal tidy!

tee hee! Kaiz!
MIL is in the Northern Hemisphere, but when they were here last winter, I completely hid behind the "I'm too busy with twins to do housework" card.

That is a good card to have, you lucky thing
Kaiz!
Dh knows not to venture into my handbag. He's far to scared to put his hand in for fear of it getting bitten off

Never for my MIL, it makes us both uncomfortable to be in a sterile environment but I do a huge spring clean if my mum comes to visit, dust and everything

Oh and back to the handbag and hubbies. DH has a fear of them. He refuses to go into mine. He'll hand me the bag if he wants something from it.
I think he must have gotten caught a few times by his Mum when he was young

I do the coffee group clean, not the MIL clean. Maybe that's why she offered to buy me a frontpack so I could clean and keep Daniel happy at the same time
