Topic: Random Waking Posted: 13 February 2009 at 12:40pm |
My lil guy is 15mths now he's in a pretty good routine (although it does vary by an hour some days)
Usually he wakes up around 7-7:30 has a morning bottle in bed and has a lil snooze/lax for about 15mins gets up plays has brekky and morning tea down for a nap around 11:30-12 sleeps till 2:30-3 and back to bed for the night around 7:30-7:45.
However lately only some mornings he's started waking around 5:30 and WONT go back to sleep, we've given into giving him an early bottle but doesn't snooze after it so it see's us getting up around 6 once he's up and moving he's irritable and its easy to tell he's still tired, I've tried leaving him to cry, feeding, cuddles, nappy change, I dont know what else to do, he used to be such a good sleeper and now its really starting to take it toll...
Any ideas or anyone whos having the same problem please every suggestion is helpful, Thanks :)

eeeek, what a pain! Is he waking because he is hungry? Maybe he needs more before bed to get him through to 7am?? Sometimes Sophie will stir early, but she will self settle and go back to sleep. So my only suggestion would of been to leave him, but thats not working. Sorry I have no other ideas, but hopefully he will settle back into his old routine soon!!

this happened to my neice. for some reason she started waking round 530 so the doctor suggested getting black out curtains. apparently kids wake up with the light at a certain age and if they have had a decent night sleep that wont fall asleep again cos the signals tell their bodies to wake up but black out curtains trick them into not releasing those signals until you open the curtains and the light comes in. if you already have dark curtains i have no ideas sorry. lol

How long as this been going on for? I know Ella goes through stages of waking up & starting the day really early...but it normally lasts a couple of weeks and then she is back to waking up around 7. Have no idea why she does this, it is just very random.
sorry probably wasn't that much help....but hopefully he goes back to normal soon.
maybe the heat is affecting him?

Thanks ladies :) I'll see what i can do about darker curtains...
Mum2Ella - Its been happening for a couple of weeks now, maybe 3 or 4 days out of the week?
One of our neighbors has recently acquired a bird the coos almost 24/7 so I'm wondering if its that that is waking him, I was thinking of trying 'white noise' to cover the bird - Has anyone trialed the white noise theory?
