My wee baby is now sleeping during the day unwrapped as its too hot and she seems to be only to happy to be wrapped at night but not for naps.....anyway she has one of the little "taggie???" blankie things with the ribbons on the side and its cotton on one side and polar fleece on the other and she usually sleeps with it under her head but now that she is unwrapped I give it to her as I give her the dummy and a little cuddle before she goes down for a nap and she rubs her face on it. (I always rub the blankie quickly on me before I give it to her) when I put her in her cot she seems to pull the blankie over her face and then instantly drops off to sleep, if I move it away she wakes up. I am checking on her a million times as I am worried it might suffocate her!! It is only the smallest blankie maybe 20cm by 20cm.
Would you just leave it or move it away even though she then wakes up? The times I have just left it she has been fine so far
as long as its a breathable fabric eg cotton or muslim then just let her sleep. it's only worth worrying about if you can't breathe through it. Hold it over your face, and if you can still breathe then so can she. Its a comfort thing, my daughter likes things around her face too.
We gave Joel a little blankie as well as he likes things up around his face and can manouver blankets etc up to his face if I don't give it to him, I would rather it be the small one than a bigger one.
I wouldn't stress too much! Lily sleeps with a little lion thing which body isn't stuffed and she loves it! I sometimes come in to her in the morning awake just playing with it! Its so cute!
Thanks guys. I had introduced the blankie now as I want her to have something like that as I know what a comfort and lifesaver they can be when bubs is upset but was just worried about her suffocating.
a little tip - if she seems to really like it, get another one (or two!) now and start rotating them!! That means that if one is dirty and needs a wash then she has the other. (not to mention if it gets lost or left behind )
i got jess to make muslins ones(we have 4:) ) ...so that way he had a taggie but not fleece over his face because i was constantly worried about it:) but then i was a bit of a stresser:)
My girls have blankies. They didn't get them until they were around 3 months but as soon as they got them they were hooked and right from the start have slept with them over their faces. I was worried to begin with but as soon as I would try to take it off they would wake and scream so I gave in.
Haha yep my boy still has his blankie (big one) over his face if he's on his back. I just used to go in at night and pull it down a wee bit just in case.
