Yay Bobbie!! Great to have you join us here

I actually nearly threw up this morning. Started feeling really sick in the shower and had to suddenly get out, head over the toilet bowl but it just passed. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come

It may be Jane sorry to say. Its what I am waiting for. Bad as it sounds and is, its a good indicator that things are progressing as they should.

Hi Everyone!

I need your advice....

Well, this is my first time….. I only found out on Tuesday that I was pregnant and the only reason I thought I better test myself is because I was three days late and wanted to be safe so I could have a wine with dinner (to celebrate our anniversary) – it came back positive and I nearly fell over!
Quite mixed emotions as I thought I had mucked up the ovulation dates for Feb (and Jan) so didn't think in a million years that it would be positive! Now, I'm stressing out in a big way as I'd being drinking 1-2 glasses most nights with things on for the last two weeks (as I thought I could feel my period coming on as I get bad PMT a week before) and last Saturday had a wedding (which ended up being a big night….). I never thought I would be pregnant as I had all the signs of my period due. Now I know that those signs where pregnancy, but with the horrible cramping, sore boobs, I thought I was safe with it being due. .. I had no idea :-(
Been to doctors yesterday as was so worried and due 12 November. Still waiting on blood results. I should be so excited but I’m so worried and ridden with guilt with drinking in between… Is anyone else in the same boat or can offer some advice?? I’m so disappointed as I’ve been doing everything right. We started in January and I didn’t drink at all in January, nor for most of the month in February until I discovered I’d mucked anything up, I was so upset and thought it wouldn’t matter having a wine or two as thought my period was coming.. :-( ahhhh!!!

Oliva calm down everything will be ok, its not like you knew you were pregnant, you are only just pregnant so I doubt you would have done any long term damage,
What is important is that you do everything right now that you know.
Relax and be happy yay your pregnant! Congrulations to you both,
Think and act positive
I must admit it was our first month of giving it ago I wasnt expecting to get pregnant straight away so I had a glass with dinner two nights before I ofund out, so your not the only one! and it doesnt make you a bad mummy oxoxoxox

Hi everyone,

1stBABY4me - with regards to the drinking, i think at the very begining stages of pregnancy the baby gets all its nutrition from the yolk sac and doesnt even share your blood supply at the time, so having a couple of drinks when you did shouldnt have any impact so stop feeling guilty.

Brilee thats a shame about not getting saturday off. I understand about the tiredness. I have been back from holidays for a week now and feel like i need another

ShelliN - i am just glad that i got pregnant at the end of summer and dont get my hayfever at this time. I was like you last time with my daughter, it was terrible. Hopefully it wont last too much longer for you as we are moving into winter.

YvetteandElla - welcome.

I wouldn't worry about it Olivia - there are lots of people out there who drink (not knowing they are pg) and have babies that are perfectly fine. A friend of mine had 2 big nights out while unknowingly pg and her baby is fine. Also my friend who is a nurse said they don't take anything off you in the first few weeks so you should be ok. I totally know what you are feeling though. I had had a huge night at a friends wedding and a few days later I thought I might be pg and it was a horrible feeling.

Stressing about it will only be worse for you and bubs though so just remember there are lots of people in your situation who have babies that are fine

Oh and welcome to the thread

Thanks Brilee and everyone who replied, I'm just shattered. I always try and do everything right and can't believe I stuffed up by two silly weeks of drinking - not thinking I could possibly be preg.. Its not so much the odd one, it was wedding where the damage may have been done. I'm due see a specialist in a couple of weeks I think so will be able to have a good chat then. Thanks again for replying :-)

Hi Olivia - welcome!

I had a HUGE night out on it with my first daughter, before I knew. I was rather tipsy that night but shattered by 9pm (now I know why).

My daughter is bright as a button and has nothing wrong (I had a CVS to test for Downs at 13 weeks and everything was a-ok so I assume that any alcohol related thing would have been picked up then)

Brianna - thats stink. I have to work 7.30 till 7.30 tomorrow which kind of sucks too but at least I can sleep in on Saturday (well, as much as my nearly 3 year old will let me!)

CuriousG - You may have already said but I can't remember Did you have a CVS because of a high risk scan or doctors recommendation or was it just for your own peace of mind? Also how did you choose between CVS and Amnio?

I had the CVS because of high risk scan it came back at 1:55, which is out of this world for a 26 year old. I am fully expecting to have a crap result again, which will be higher I expect due to me being 30. I am thinking something like 1:25 or even 1:4. I think my babies have 'fat necks' although DD wasn't born with a fat neck (I remember getting the result that she was ok and turning to DH and saying "its your fault, you have a fat neck") lol!

I was booked for amnio but the membranes hadn't fused so I had to have the CVS instead. I ain't gonna lie, its not that pleasant but for peace of mind, it was worth it. Its not very painful just very very disconcerting having a giant needle through your abdomen.

Thanks for doing the list Kicker - it's good to see all the people who are in here.

I rang my MW this morning and yay! she's free again so I have her all booked in.

I agree with all the other mums, I wouldnt stress about the drinking, when I had my first son I didnt know I was pregnant, and we had had a few busy weeks of functions & drinking etc... I felt so guilty and worried for a long time but my specialist told me he would be fine and he was !! totally fine !!
