Topic: Kinda Sad... Posted: 16 May 2006 at 8:30pm |
Well it's Arna's birthday on 2nd June (Queens Bday weekend) - and I am sitting here thinking "Does she need a party", "Should I do party food for dinner" etc etc and then I realised that she's got NO little friends up here
Back down in Palmy I went to playgroup, had coffee groups etc and up here I didn't do anything for the first few mnths cause we were settling in and now shes in daycare and I don't know who she is friends with (from what I know she is EXTREMELY SHY at daycare)
So I'm bummed that my daugthers 2nd birthday she is going to have one "little" friend cause I invited a girl from work who has a 3 year old (who Arna has never met!) and the rest will be 2 granddads, aunty, 2 step "Grandmothers" and a mate of mine...
Ok - I will shoosh now

you could ask her daycare teachers - chances are they will know who she hangs around with - even if she is very shy, chances are there is at least a couple of others she associates with. we did the same for paris - this year she is able to tell us - a very long list of people she wants to come - and at their parent teacher night last week we said to her main teacher about it and were told that's right, those are her friends she mainly plays with. just an idea - it's also a great way to get to know the other parents and make some new friends.

i know exactly how you feel lena! jack doesn't have any friends either really
at his first birthday he only had 3 other little girls there and they were 3, 4 and 5yrs! we hardly ever see them so he doesn't really know them either. they completely took over everything and this year won't be any different except there will also be 2 9mth old's there as well as the older girls.
i'm not sure if he has any friends at daycare either. he's only there 2 mornings a week and when i pick him up he's usually playing with the toys by himself
so in short, hehe, jack is in a similar position for his 2nd birthday in august unless he makes friends his own age by then.

IF I got my A into G when we moved up and went to Playcentre instead of work I wouldn't have this problem!! Will ask daycare today, know of one girl who always says hi to Arna so think she has 1 friend there. But when I pick her up she is always on her own
Will let you guys know tonight!!

maybe you could send invitations home in the kids back packs at preschool. My friends wee 2 yr old girl went to a party on the weekend and she had no idea who the wee boy was but an invitation came home and they decided to go and it was great, there were at least another 4 kids that went and she got to meet some of the other parents. There may be others in the same boat as you who would welcome the opportunity.
Vanessa dont worry, your in chch right? we should introduce our boys so Jack will have at least another wee boy friend. Kobe is in the same boat, everyone has girls so he is always playing dolls!

LOL - bad parent Maree is going to have Andrew's first birthday party with one other kiddie and a whole heap of grandparents! I would feel guilty but he won't remember it and gets more of a kick out of the grandparents at the moment anyway. I'll get my act together by birthday number two! (At least you have an excuse Lena - I haven't even just moved)
